Board Guidelines

First of all, the staff wants to welcome you to The Phantom’s Opera! Before you start enjoying yourself, there are a few guidelines that you must adhere to. They are not hard to follow at all and only take a few minutes to read. Failure to uphold the guidelines could result in banning from the board.

    Spam is not allowed.

  • Posts that are shorter than 20 words are considered spam.
  • Spam includes posting off the wall mess, nonsense, smilie-only posts.
  • Posting purely to boost post count is prohibited.
  • Offenders will be given little warnings, and spammy posts will be deleted without notice. Repeat offenders can have roses taken off, until they get the picture. Only under dire circumstances will someone be banned for spam.

    Posting

  • Please do not double post. If you have something to add after you post, use the edit button. Double posts will be either merged or deleted with no notice, at the discretion of the moderator.
  • "Kewl Talk" is not allowed. Type out your posts in full sentences and try to use the best grammar that you can possibly pull off. Slight spelling or grammar mistakes won't land you in jail though.

    Role Playing Forums

  • Proper Role Playing Format should be followed at all times. See the Role Playing Guide for more information on role playing
  • Members are not able to create their own role playing games at the time, unless stated otherwise in the various forums.
  • Please follow other guidelines when it comes to posting in particular threads.

    No bashing other members.

  • Discrimination and hate towards other members for their religion, beliefs, opinions, preference, etc. is NOT tolerated.
  • Members have a right to enjoy themselves and feel safe on the boards.
  • People who break these rules will have one first warning. After that, suspension from the board for a term may occur. If the situation is serious enough, permanent banning from the board may occur.

    There are kids around.

  • Keep all content on the boards under the rating of rating of R or British Ratings 15. Absolutely NO NC-17 or 18 content on the boards.
  • Pornography, or discussion of adult materials (such as illegal drugs, substances) are not allowed at all.
  • Some themes expressed in The Phantom of the Opera may be inappropriate for younger members of the board. All mature discussions must be held within The Torture Chamber.

    Worship Sam? Yes.

  • All members must worship Sam, otherwise known as Super Samness (username Erik) for the rest of time.
  • Sam accepts gifts of candy, flowers, and undying praise. Art and poetry is also appreciated.
  • Samness loves all her worshippers -- no fighting shall take place amongst them, or else.
  • CSI makes everything wonderful. When in doubt, (s)he with the most CSI knowledge shall get primary snuggle time with Samness. Jon and Ash are exceptions, as they don't like CSI by way of their college major, and they always get primary snuggle time.
  • Though she is very knowledgable about CSI, Katia gets automatic snuggle time at request. This is because she is a smart blonde cookie, and also Texan (so she probably carries a gun or two). And she is lovely in every way, of course.

    Double Accounts. No.

  • Having more than one account is not allowed. They take up board space and give a false impression of member activity to TPO.
  • Creating multiple accounts to cause problems among other members, or to spy is strictly prohibited. Useless accounts will be deleted at the discretion of the Opera Managers. Just stick to one account and use it.
  • If you have innocently created extra accounts, private message an Opera Manager and he/she will take care of the other account with no problems.

    Thread Guidelines.

  • Please do not create multiple threads of the same subject.
  • Threads that are spam will be punjabbed immediately.
  • Once a thread reaches 200 posts, create a fresh one for us. One of the staff will come by and lock the old thread, and move it into the archives. This is to keep the board neat and tidy. Large threads can slow down the board and cause forum crashes or failures.
  • Please clearly state thread subjects in the title of a new thread.

    Illegal/Pirated Materials

  • Illegal or pirated materials are not to be discussed, mentioned, hinted at, or shared/posted around the board. The staff of the board looks down this kind of activity. It will not be tolerated.

    Becoming a Moderator FAQ

Can I be an admin (Opera Manager)?

Very simply, the answer is no to this question. If the staff is in need of a new administrator then a upstanding staff member on the board will be asked first. Random people will never receive moderator/admin status on the board, unless their is a need to go off-board for an Opera Manager replacement.

    What about being a moderator?

The first rule to becoming a moderator is very simply, don’t ask to be one. When we search for new moderators the staff looks for compassion, activity, neatness, creativity, dependability, and maturity. Moderators must be kind to all users and be able to solve issues and deal with spam on the board.

Sometimes the spots are needed, so that’s when we will have a ‘mod search’ or simply ask a member on the board to join the staff. Spam and constant bugging to become part of the staff will not be tolerated on the board. Remember clearly, do not ask to be on the staff. We will ask you.

    Username Change Policy

When you sign up, you may have a username that you love, but in a few months, the charm wears off, and you find yourself growing weary of what you have. The Staff is aware of this, so we've come up with a simple policy for you all to use regarding name changes: You are allowed to receive a name change every two (2) months at the cost of 40 roses. To have your username changed please send a private message to Ubaldo Piangi.

As problems arise more rules will be amended to the board. The rules are subject to change at any time as problems occur and come up that we did not anticipate. We want you to have the most out of your experience of the boards; The Phantom commands you to!
