Though not out yet, a new Phantom movie will be sent to theatres sometime imbetween the years of 2007 and 2010. Finaly based (clearly) off of Gaston Leroux's book, the "official" site can be found here-Lighthouse Limited Pictures (http://www.lighthouseltdpictures.com/)

Directed by a fellow phan, John Woosley, a student at The University of Kansas, and hopefuly it will, for once,"totaly" follow Leroux's book....

Sylvia Niccum (Christine) has been cast, but actors for Raoul and Erik haven't... yet...

More info can be found here, on www.phantomoftheopera.com (yes- the board run by "Christine Daae")

"Announcing- Gaston Leroux's "Phantom of the Opera"! (POTO.com Thread) (http://www.phantomoftheopera.com/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=6984&start=0)

And a preview of the script can be found Here! (http://www.lighthouseltdpictures.com/script.html)

Yeah, I've seen it. The script doesn't look very good, and their Christine looks way too old.

I hate to be mean, but it doesn't look like it will get off the ground, so I wouldn't get too excited.

T_T My friends and I were planning on actually making our own movie version of Phantom of the Opera, after we saw how incorrect the movie was. Our movie was to be based strongly in the play (songs, and lines, and just about everything), although we'd build the sets to look more like Leroux's version, and add more facts from the book to the script.

But our Raoul bailed and we never found someone to play Phantom. T__T I was sooo looking forward to it -- I was gonna be Christine!

There really going to make another one? I don't know if it will be that good or not. I guess we'll all just have to wait and see. Regardless of whether it's really good or not I will probably go to see it just because it's POTO. You have to check out everything at least once I suppose. But I wish them the best of luck with the new movie.

I don't like the way the actors/actresses look. Zelda, I believe you're right. Christine does look way too old.

I'm just wondering if they'll still have the music that we have in the Broadway musical today, and the ALW movie.

Despite all that, I can't wait to see the trailer (I don't have Apple or whatever it is, so I can't watch it now.)

I'm actually reading Gaston Leroux's novel at the moment so I would go and see it.

I think it would be interesting. But I do agree with the point Zelda brought up. She does look to old and if it will be shot between 07-10, she'll only get older and then they may need to find someone else (me, perhaps? No, just kidding, I'd only be 16). I tdo think it is a good idea, though to make a movie based on the original book. That would be exciting, but it should have the correct cast, which will be difficult, but do-able.

This movie isn't happening. I read a while back that the writer/director of this film decided to turn it into a Da Vinci Code-style thriller, set in the modern day. So, no "true to Leroux" film.

Well that just bites!!! I want a true to Leroux film. But, hey, If it waits like six-ten years, I could be in it, so I guess I shouldn't complain, right? no. Just kidding, If I were to be in it, they would want a more expirianced actress, and that would proabaly be my first movie... OKay, I'll stop daydreaming now.

But they really need to make a true-to-leroux movie.

I wanna have a Phantom/Leroux film!! It brings back the first point of Phantom. Let people see the part of Phantom without all the music. The mystery behind his life, the wonders of the Opera House and it beautiful glory! It's a wonderful thought to have a movie more about Erik's life. Remember, Gaston's highlighted his life, Kay's his soul, Webber music, Crawford showed his passion, Butler his desire and all what not of it! But I know much about his passion, desire, music and soul. What about his life. Many arguements pop out about his life, "No the gypsies raped him. . .there was only one that was nice. . .yadyadyadyad!!!" Everything has been mentioned!

Let them make a movie about it again! After Lon Changy's performance the screen I wanna see a new Phantom, besides Changy, Butler or anyone on Broadway. Let's see a new Erik....I don't care about waiting how ever so long x amount of years...just let it come before I die! hehe!

On IMDB it says the title is "Angel of Music" and it's being released on March 31st, 2008. It looks pretty horrible from what I've seen of it in the trailer. The acting is quite awful! I'm guessing it'll go directly to dvd/video like how most low budget movies end up. Ugh, it's such a shame really! I was really looking forward to a new Phantom movie that would be good. Well, I guess we all will still have to wait.

Although it absolutely dreadful, I'm going to rent when it comes out, but that's because I LOVE POTO. It looks cheap, poorly made, and the acting was very bad to put it nicely. And though it was semi-true to the book, it still looks... horrid. I love the original book, but the new movie looks less that good.

Yup, lol, I agree. I also will be curious to watch it just because it's Phantom related.

Same here. We'll just have to grin and bear it and have a flase excuse to be happy in our miserable phan lives :P

It would be interesting to see if this really pans out into anything. I'd definetly go see it. It's about time they made one close to Leroux's novel!

OK somebody please tell me what that guy in the trailer was doing with the ax and shovel. O.O I'm scared for my Phan life. *runs away* MOMMY!!! This does look pretty stupid but I'm probably going to watch it any way. :D My little phan brain won't let me rest until I see a HUGE amount of the POTO movies. Also you can't really criticizes [sp?] something until you see it right. But why aren't they paying attention to the story ? They are harping on this guy trying to figure out the story. What in the world we want story not some guy trying to figure out the story. And why exactly do they have the whole marriage crubbling thing  Is it suppost to be like he is Erik or something. I personally in the way of books turned to movies I want to see a based well on Leroux's WITH SOUND thank you. I love the Lon Changy but I wish the only one that I've seen that was so much like Leroux's book had SOUND just in my preference. and I want to see someone take on making Susan Kay's Phantom. It would be really good as a movie. OH and Through Phantom Eyes (once it's finished) I love the beginning of that book. Wow I ranted for a really long time and it wasn't even offending Erik .

When in the world are they going to release this? I'm terribaly curious to see a full-masked Erik on screen even if it's for a brief moment.

Is this ever going to be released? This is insane! It's only been two years since they annouced its production. Anyone have any updates?

I recently checked the site and am surprised that they revamped it. Here's the site. (http://angelofmusic.lighthouseltdpictures.com/Synopsis.html) It seems they altered the story yet again. It looks better... a little better. It seems the decision for change happened over the summer or something and they're working on it right now.

Goodness, again? I'm not sure if this is really worth waiting for now. The plots are jumping around more than a ping pong! It's crazy! I mean my God, what are they doing?

I do like the new poster because it's definitly more phantomish.

You all have no idea how happy that would make me. The last time I saw this version of the movie was when I went to my cousin's house, but now they decided to move to Canada--I'm not joking!--and so I can't watch it until I get to go to Canada some time...and I can't find the video anywhere around here in the wilderness! *tear*. Sigh. When is it coming out, I know I'm totally late with this one but you know, I've got sticky notes to remind me.

I remember seeing this a few years ago, but never really kept up with how it was coming along. Does anyone know where to watch the trailer? The one on the main site isn't working.

I believe the movie is finally finished! It's on DVD and is downloadable off the internet.

Director John Woosely announced it on phantomoftheopera.com a couple days ago:

New Phantom of the Opera Movie: Angel of Music (2008) (http://www.phantomoftheopera.com/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=6984&viewmode=flat&order=ASC&type=&mode=0&start=725)

I believe it's now on sale on Amazon.com.

Haha, I just asked my parents if I could have it for my birthday (they said that they own me for something) they just looked at me and laughed, sort of. They said, "Okay we bought you the soundtrack and...*sigh* really, Patricia? *sigh again*..." Once again I have the best parents ever!
