Here you can discuss about your animals, pets, post photos, joke about them and more. I've got a little pomeranian named Meeko ( I didn't realize I had named him after a creature in Pocohantas until ages afterwards ). He's really cute and has red fur... lol, and he gets annoying sometimes when he has to go outside for the bathroom. ;)

I'll fish out a photo later.

There is my pomeranian at my cousin's house sitting on a chair in her living room. It was about two Christmas's ago when I was over there for the holidays. :)

I used to have cats but my grandma is allergic to them.

Aww! All of your pets are really wonderful and sweet. I haven't showed anyone pictures of my Meeko with his hair trimmed and nearly shaved off, lol. Hehe, I like your hermit crap named Sebastien. That's my role playing name in the RP sections of the board. :D

thanks, i figured i had to have one crab with the typical crab name lol

The Phantom
05-16-2005, 06:51 AM
I remember the crab from Little Mermaid named Sebastien, so I figure that is where you got it from! I chose Sebastien as my RP name because its unique and its an official French name. I could have gotten Guillaime, Jerome, Raoul, etc... but that's beside the point.

Are your pets scared of thunder and stuff? My dog is about to bounce off the walls with terror during this storm we had today. :(

I have two cats, both of them are fuzzy black things that we got from the animal shelter, but I think one of them is at least part chantilly. I also have four gold fish.

My cats tend to ignore storms unless it is hailing, then they hide under the closest table.

my animals don't really pay any attention to the weather, Koda experienced his first thunder storm the other day and didnt mind it at all

Some pets are cool and don't freak out, while others do. It's strange sometimes so I guess its mainly linked to how they were raised or what they're used to. My dog Meeko was most likely abused before I got him three years ago, so he's still got a few skittish tendencies. He's loved up tremendously to me though. :)

My cat for 15 years now is getting really sick :( He's having a hard time breathing, it's really sad because he's like, apart of our family.

My pets don't usually respond to the weather. They do, however, like to eat weird things though. My oldest cat in particular loves coffee, pound cake, potato chips, cheesecake, etc. He's so weird, lol. Anybody else have a pet that eats weird foods?

I don't own any pets, but my aunt has 2 cats - Mollie & Maisy. Me mum used to own a cat called Tibbles & a guinea pig called Archie. I've always wanted a horse, and I still hope to one day.

I also have to cats, Twitch and Mango. I don't have a picture of either, though, so you're out of luck there. :)

I have two pets...a mutt named Emmy (my brother's...he named her...) and my fat putty-tat named Snicks. He's mine. :D He's fat and lazy and infinitely smarter than my brother's dog...it's quite amusing watching him taunt Emmy time and time again, while the dumb dog gets more and more frustrated. Kind of like my brother and I...

Here are my pics!

I have a kitten called Eli who is 2 months old. He is so tiny, only as big as my shoe and I carry him around using one hand.

I used to have a bigger cat called Sam who was absolutely beautiful, the best cat ever but he ran away about a month ago and I got lonely so I got a kitten. Eli is a Tabby and is so cute!

I've had loads of pets over the years. We've[being my family] always had least one dog in the house. Besides that, we've had hamsters, fishes and frogs[the frogs were mine]. Let's see, the dogs always came in pairs so we've had Brutus and Esty[I don't really know how to spell her name], Chuck and Sophie and now that Chuck died, we got Brutus[the 2nd].

This Brutus[the 2nd] is so pampered. He sleeps on an armchair in the master bedroom. My parents feed him all sorts of fruits and he loves them, especially bananas. Just say "banana" anywhere near him and he comes running up to you expecting a banana.

My mate has a reeeally sweet grey bunny called Poppy; sometimes you see her standing up on her back legs, it's adorable!
Another friend, who lives next door to the person I just mentioned, used to have 2 cats - Ruby, and her kitten Sooty. Sadly, Ruby died when she got hit by a car several months ago. They still have Sooty :)

We're getting a little spammy in here... try to expand on your posts a little and make them worthwhile. :)

Do any of your pets ever do weird and random things? My dog meeko will start barking at random times of the night or day, or come running to me to take him out like 10 times in a row within an hour. It gets on my nerves but I can't help but laugh sometimes.

I have a puppy, Shadow. Yes, that's where I got the name "Shadow" from that I use on here, in case you're wondering. I love my puppy that much. ;) He's a mutt; part black lab, part flat-haired retriever (we think; he could be part husky too).

Yes, he does some very strange things. He really DOES chase his own tail - and, more often then not, he managed to catch it. o.0 And for some reason, he really lieks going after people's feet. Which can get really annoying sometimes.

My Rotsie is an attention hog. D: If you're not petting her when she's beside you, she starts barking. Irritating sometimes, especially when you're busy doing something. XD

And then, if I'm petting Cassie, she always butts in trying to get some attention. My poor Cassie...

Both of my dogs are really territorial, though. Like there was this one time when a boy came up to our door wanting money for a school activity, they both went Cujo on him. :O (Well, fortunately he was outside and they were inside, but their barks were so mean!)

He was so scared that he ran down to the end of our driveway. I did end up giving him some money. XD;

I have a giant german shephard named Lobo (that'd be spanish for wolf, how creative...) of which I currently have no pictures, though I'll get one soon. A random thing that he does is, if we're not paying attention to him, he starts chasing his tail. Its so cute, of course, he always ends up on the floor, either from catching it or getting dizzy XD silly dog. He also chases shadows throughout the morning. He doesn't understand that the shadows are made from the real thing!

When we moved into the house we live in right now, i didn't realize that the landlord (Who was a friend of ours.. in fact my sister's at her house now) had left four cats. I love cats, but to go from none to four in a day... well, that's a big change. The only reason she left the four was because she has 36.

Only one is left, due to one dying of old age (he was like 16), she took one back and the other two found new, catless families. His name is Salem, but we called him Gabe, and now he's my Buddy. *I have no clue where the names come from.... just dont ask*. I also have a hamster named Dannie who keeps trying to escape, which is not a good idea. Buddy's a good hunter.

I have an old man cat named Ulysses ( he celebrated his 19th birthday last week). He is a siamese, and i think he is amazing.

I also lease a 3 year old Quater horse Throughbred cross named Honey. She is very exictable and loves to run. I plan to start jumping with her soon, but at the moment, she is not quite ready. She's only a baby, yet

We had a thunder storm earlier and it rattled my little dog Meeko's nerves. He's a few years old and a pomeranian. He kept trying to climb in my lap and hide in weird places... like a bookshelf on top of a pile of papers.

Oh, I have a Yorkie named Rocky...he turned a year old couple days ago. He's scared of thunder also. Whenever he is scared he barks, so in the middle of the night there was thunder like so loud and he was sleeping right next to me, and gosh barks so loud! I had to comfort him...I was so sleepy. He absolutly hates bells...everytime the doorbell rings, like at our front door or the tv he will run to our door and bark like crazy, it's funny.

I love Yorkies! There adorable. I use to have three cats but sadly two had died :( It was hard getting over their deaths but I'm fine now. At the moment I have two cats. Their names are a little weird but I'll explain. One cat is named Ewok after my grandmothers cat and the other is named Mimi  Mimi never shuts up! At this very moment she is meowing and running all over my house. I swear somthings wrong with her. Ewok is more the mellow type but is afraid of her own shadow. I'm so glad there is a thread so we can talk about are pets!

Heh Yorkies are loud little buggers! I have three Yorkies, Chealsey, Samson, and Casey Lou. We had four, but sadly the matriarc Yorkie Tiffy passed away after giving birth to a liter :(. I also have three German Shepherds, Laika, Rocco, and Dutchess. In addition, I have two Boxers, Xena (my baby) and Ursula, and a cat who thinks he is a dog, Yu~ki ("yuki" is Japanese for "snow", and my cat is white... not the most original of names).

07-13-2005, 08:21 PM
Oh... I'm sorry to hear that. It really depends on the breeding of the dog, however. I've had German Shepherds for about 10 years now, and all of them are incredibly sweet. They do have a temper, but only if you're bothering them for too long and they don't know you.

I had a German Shepherd. He was like my protection, I loved him...but I didn't really take care of him that much...I feel bad, but I loved him! He ran away, and then I had a doberman pincher and he was like the sweetest dog ever. He didn't really know how to bark. It's funny, he would howl whenever he heard like the police siren or the fire trucks...that's how he would bark.

My Yorkie can't really protect himself, and he scares me because all of a sudden he would just bark. And sometimes I'm home alone, and being home alone is scary itself...but he barks, and I have no one to protect me, and so I get scared if someone like broke into the house...which is stupid, but my mind wanders...

Dogs can be weird sometimes. Ma grand-maman today was trying to take Meeko outside so he could use the bathroom and he wouldn't go. He kept growling at her and she reached down to hook him up behind the ears and he bit her. Luckily, Meeko didn't draw any blood or my Grandma would have had to go to the hospital for stitches or worse, a rabies shot (even though Meeko is rabies-free).

I have a family dog named Sam who is just an ole' brown mutt but he's a sweety and I used to own a short hair guinea pig who was sooo cute. He died almost two years ago and I was so extremely sad. I've got a fish I anmed Jonothan Phinn. He's, what, three weeks old now? He's a Betta!

And a kitten who was born on Sept. 25. He's orange and white and a little devil. But I love him anyway ^_^

Before I moved I had an old cat named Midnight who was almost 5, I think, maybe older, and an 8 month old kitten named Marvin. I also had 7 fish, I think.

In my entire life I've had...::counts on fingers::..36(?) cats. Isn't that crazy? I cn never remember not having a cat, except while we moved.

EEP! I love love love my present/past pets... though I don't have much piccies on the compy of them! Hahaha! I'll hunst some down anyway to show you all!

Firstly, we have Vicky (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v133/malila/Vicky.jpg) She's a Calico and she has three legs... It's given her many nicknames... many people beleive we should have changed her name to Tripod... But Why? lmao, she was already named when we got her from the Humane Society. From what I know, she was hit by a truck, survived, but they had to amputate her back leg.... She's a little tempermental (crazy) and she'll give us the silent treatment if we ignor her fro to long and force her to suck up for attention... Lmao. She hates stangers and yeah...

Next we have Stew Pedidiot (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v133/malila/Puppycat.jpg)! Okay, I admit it, my dad names him. And my dad tamed him... and my dad found him and stuff... In short, Stew/Furball/Stupid Kitty/Puppy-Cat (he goes by MANY names) is a loveable stray! My dad claims to hate cats be we know the difference. This cat has FOUR legs! Hahahaha, and we love him dearly! ;) I mean it. He has a little girlfreind now too, but she doesn't really come to close, or if she does she is super suspiscious we'll eat her. But sometimes, the looks she gives Puppy-Cat when we're petting him... it's worth it. She knows we feed her and thats about it... Him and his girlfriend had [url=][ulr] Kittens too! :) But we had to give them away :(

Okay, on to babble further...

Yukon, I don't have any pictures on this compy of him :( Yukon was my American Eskimo Husky, he was adorable! I'm sure only Canadians will really understand the name, so I'll explain it for everyone not familliar with Canadian Geography. Yukon is one of Canada's territories, and it happenes to be in the north, so, they end up with a lot of Snow! Anywho... An American Eskimo Husky is smaller than normaly huskies and they have longer/thincker fur. So to say the least, Yukon was mostly fur. I remember if we ended up combng him there would be soooo much fur... But he liked to be combed out in the summer when it's hot..... In Ontario anyways... My parents had this dog longer than they had me when he died, so I'm sure we're not getting any more dogs. He lived to be sixteen (that was three years ago though) sooo... I miss him a lot, but I still remember him, so at least he did that right? After all. 'To be forgotten is worse than death.'

We used to have a lot of Rabbits too, I mean, we did bread rabbits for two years, so overall we had 200 (now you all think I'm some country hick or something, lmao. Trust me, I'm not!) But anyway, I miss them... except for the one that bit/scarred my shoulder, don't miss him to much! That really hurt! lmao. That was along time ago...

Tabernathy is a ginger-and-white male with yellowish eyes who, at 15 1/2, is nearly at the end of his days, sad to say. We have nicknames for him, including Taber, but my special name is Space Cadet because you never know what to expect from him, even at his age. We're not ready to give up on him. We had two cats that passed the 20-year mark! But, Taber's health is fading fast. He still plays when he can and begs non-stop to be fed. It's amazing that he's so thin, but the doctor says that's just his illness. He's so thin, I've taken to calling him the Tawny Scrawny Lion after the child's book. He was given to me by the editor at the newspaper I worked at.

Gremlin is 15, a male, with long, black hair and golden eyes. He's Taber's best buddy and is devoted to my mom. He's very laidback until he decides to playfight, then he gets extremely vocal. Also, he chats to Mom, especially when it's time to be brushed. He was given to us by friends of my mother.

Tigger is 14, a male, with gray and black fur; the black is in stripes and spots, and he has a sort of fawn-color undercoat; he has gooseberry green eyes--almost jade. I call him Mr. Broody Brood because he tends to glower and not want to join in on playing and running with the others. Lately, he seems to have mellowed and has been playing with our youngest cat and getting very cuddly with Mom and I--much to our amazement. I found Tigger in a petshop; he'd been found on the side of the road, just a tiny thing. He's so independent that I think he pulled a "Milo and Otis" and just struck out on his own.

The Empress Precious Pye aka Precious is about 3 years old, a tortoiseshell female with greenish-gold eyes. Even the vet wasn't certain. For the first time in my life I burned microwave popcorn; when I tossed it outdoors then, when I turned to throw the bag into the trash, spotted this tiny kittenish cat sitting next to the trashcans, like a little figure of Bast, just looking at me. I said, "Hello, little girl!", thinking she would run away the moment I moved toward her. Luckily for her, she didn't, which truly saved her life. When we took her to have her checked over and to set up her operation, the vet discovered that both her ears had abscessed, something he had never seen before! He had no idea what her age was; all he would guess is "last year's cat". Well, we started feeding her as much as she could eat, and she blossomed so that, when we took her for her surgery, she was nearly twice the size she'd been! Now, she's about average size for a female, smaller than our biiiig boys but feistier than all of them. She definitely considers herself ruler of the household and is a haughty but really sweet girl. She has the most melodious voice in a cat that I have ever heard! She has an amazing range of vocalizations and is even more intelligent than the amazing Tigger. Another thing: I'm sure she was mistreated when she was "on the streets"; the base of her tail is stiff, and her tail is shorter than the other cats', so we think someone perhaps pulled her or picked her up by her tail, damaging it. She doesn't wave her tail but wags it! Very cute!

Prince Puffnstuff aka Puff aka Puffster aka Puffy is about 2 years old. He is a yellow tiger-stripe with yellow eyes. He sort of adopted us, hanging around our porch and backstep until Mom finally decided we were going to keep him. We never expected to have any other cats after the three "old guys", but Precious and Puff changed our minds thankfully.

This is Precious on her windowseat. It was either give her a table or chase her off the dining room table! LOL!

Precious & Tiger & Tigger--Oh my!
Tiger is Precious' beloved toy, bought for her as a get-well gift after her surgery. She was inseparable from him for a very long time. Now, he's relegated to her once-in-a-while toy basket.

That leaves me needing to round up a Gremlin picture. Do you know how difficult it is to photograph a shadow-black cat who has earned the moniker No Face Kitty because, once his eyes are closed, he really does look like that?! Even his nose is black!

Tadaaaa! I finally located a Gremlin picture!

Hey, guess what? I finally have a picture of my Shadow-puppy to show off!

My very own Shadow.... (http://img343.imageshack.us/img343/5332/myshadow1wa4.jpg)

The text in the pic totally stolen from the Mary Martin version of Peter Pan, by the way. That photo was actually taken just a few weeks after we got him; isn't he adorable? Makes me want to hug him - except he's sleeping right now and doesn't like to be woken up. ^_^;

I'm soooo proud of our kitties that I scanned more pictures. This counterbalances all the dog pictures I suppose.

This one is my reference to "The Wizard of Oz": "Ding Dong, the Puff Is Dead!" *GROAN* If you look carefully, you'll see a little yellow ear behind the shelf. Puff is now too large to accomplish the flat cat trick.

Yay a thread for pets! Cyn, Gremlin looks like one of my cats, who I sadly do not have a pic for, actually there is only one cat whose picture I do have and that is my Muffin's XD.

And here are two pics of Muffin,

Everyone meet my dog Zeus!

Oh This is Sasha, my first dog, sadly she is dead now, but never in our hearts.

Muffin is sooo pretty! Considering the hundreds of cats we've had over the years, none have looked like Muffin. The couch pic is soooo cute. Do they ever cuddle? We used to have a poodle who loved the cats, as did the Lhasa Apso we once owned. We had a Muffin once; she was white and longhaired and had a yellow eye and a blue eye. Face it: Muffin is a great kitty name!

Zeus is gorgeous! I'm definitely a catperson, but I do like dogs and puppies, too.

Gremlin has a lookalike? Does your cat become a no-face cat, too, as Gremmy does when he closes his eyes?

I'd love to see more pics of all of them! In fact, I love seeing everyone's pets and reading about them. This is a good showcase for our pets. I do love this thread and wish that more people would participate.

I regret to announce that we lost our beloved Tabernathy late Thursday night. We had him for 15 1/2 years, even longer than we had thought. Mom found his birthday when she added his death to the journal. We'll definitely miss our sweet ol' Space Cadet with all his curiosity and antics.

Here are some more pictures of our sweet Taber, beginning with one of him in the bathroom window:

Tabernathy and his "best bud" Gremlin:
http://i85.photobucket.com/albums/k76/cynsemele/POTO%20PICS/GremlinTabernathy.jpg

Hey! Doesn't every catlover have a carpeted tipi in the living room?! Well, it's that or a kitty condo I suppose.

This is Taber investigating the water fountain:
http://i85.photobucket.com/albums/k76/cynsemele/POTO%20PICS/TheFountain.jpg

Finally, Taber spent a lot of time napping next to "Mama Cat", a stuffed toy a friend gave me as a birthday present years ago:
http://i85.photobucket.com/albums/k76/cynsemele/POTO%20PICS/TaberandMamaCat.jpg

Rest in peace, Tabernathy. We'll miss you sooooooo much!

I've got a kitty, and his name is Phez. Phezzy. Phezzers. Pez. But mostly just Phez ^___^

Close up (http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d75/sambaxter/HPIM0015.jpg). Phez likes attention, so this picture was a little fuzzy, but he was purring really loud, so I took the picture anyway.

Lazy kitty (http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d75/sambaxter/HPIM0014.jpg). He looks fat in this picture. I don't know why, he doesn't normally look like that to me. Maybe I just still think of him as my kitten.

Cattitude (http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d75/sambaxter/HPIM0013.jpg). I stole your phrase Cyn, but doesn't it fit?

Anyways, that's my kitty, and I love him with all my heart. Because cat's are funny... sometimes I think he hates me, but then when I'm upset or crying, he's always there trying to comfort me. I wouldn't trade him for any other kitty in the world.

... except maybe Jon's :p lol.

Thank you Cyn, Muffin is a Calico cat, and yes they did cuddle a few times, Muffin actually slept on top of Sasha a few times, it was so adorable.

Gremlin's lookalike has only one difference, aside from name, and that is Samantha isn't quite as um, fluffy. Is Gremlin long haired? Yes she becomes a no face! lol! I love your phrasing of that XD.

Oh and here is a picture of my very first, and to this point only, Blue hooded rat, BlueBerry! (Original? I think not XD)

Yes, Gremlin is very longhaired. The great moment of his day is when Mom takes him into her room, where he lies on his special towel on her bed and gets brushed.

Awww... Your rat is so pretty! I've never heard of that breed. I've seen white ones and multicolor ones but not one like yours. A man at Bristol Renaissance Faire used to feature several beautiful rats in his troll-artist routine. I think he made a lot of rat fans that summer.

OOH! Phez is a pretty one, too! I LOVE the closeup! It's soooo cute! Yea! Cattitude is CATching on! I coined it originally for a sticker I put together: "If you don't like my cattitude, call 1-800-GETADOG!" The original used "attitude", but I thought it deserved a new word. Then, I started using it in connection with Easy "Cat" Tanner. Feel free to circulate it!

You are very right about how cats can act. They can be standoffish and dodge you, then they can be so comforting when you need it. They very odd, unusual, weird and aggravating creatures, but they make us laugh sooo much! Also, they're simply beautiful animals.

Here are a few more kitty pics. This is Precious and Puff on their windowtable:
http://i85.photobucket.com/albums/k76/cynsemele/POTO%20PICS/STRETCH.jpg

This is Pyewacket, who lived to be 23 years old! She was a tough old lady who, when she lived outdoors, used to chase off dogs and any other cats who dared entered "her" territory. She was almost a twin to the cat we had before her--Timothy Matthew Titus O'Leary, who lived to be 20 years old. Pye lives on in Precious' spirit. That's why she's The Empress Precious Pye. She's carrying on the "cattitude"; that's for certain!

http://i85.photobucket.com/albums/k76/cynsemele/POTO%20PICS/Pyewacket.jpg

Ready for another Tigger pic? No? Well, here it is anyway--Baby Tigger!

http://i85.photobucket.com/albums/k76/cynsemele/POTO%20PICS/Tiggeronpillows.jpg

This makes me want to upload some more kittycat pics! Let's liven up this thread because it is too neat not to be contributed to. C'mon, everyone! Round up pictures of your pets! We want to see them!

YAY!!! I have a kitten!

The pet deposit in my apartment is kinda high so my sister paid most of it for a Christmas present. So this week I went to the humane society and adopted a kitten.

At the shelter (http://www.geocities.com/jon_rugger10/newkitty.jpg)
When he first came home (http://www.geocities.com/jon_rugger10/KITTY.jpg)
Apparently he's a fan of TPO too (http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d75/sambaxter/KITTY-1.jpg) (yes... I know I need to trim the beard...)

Anyway his name is Oscar but I've been calling him Ozzy

L'anyhoodles... I have two kitties, a puppy, and a chinchilla. Well, the kitties are full grown, and the puppy is rather large now, but I still think of them as that! Here's a pic: Kitties! (http://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i267/erik-is-my-master13/momspictures010.jpg)

I have(well, my family has) a cat named Charlie Brown, a dog named Pickle Relish, and 3(well, 5 now but I don't know the names of the new ones) finches named: Hewbie, Rocko, and Ruffles. Know what I've just noticed? All the pets we have are boys! Except for one of the new finches, that's a girl. But still...

I've been asking my parents if I can get a girl kitty from the shelter, but they haven't let me yet. They say: "We already have a cat!" (at this point I look over at Charlie, who is usually lounging) "But he's a lazy old fart! And I want a girl!" :D

MystMoonstruck

Are you sure you want a female cat? My experience with them is that--um--they can be rather difficult. I've always owned males, with two exceptions: Pyewacket, who was a fierocious, antisocial old "warhorse"; and Precious, who tends to be as antisocial as Pye. Except, Precious does have a gorgeous voice, the softest fur and... Well... She's a female, so she has major queen bee attitude.

Male cats--at least fixed ones--tend to be sweethearts, with a few exceptions.

Maybe I'm prejudiced. I dearly love Precious, but she has a baaaaad cattitude! Here's another Precious pic to make up for bad meowthing her:
http://i85.photobucket.com/albums/k76/cynsemele/POTO%20PICS/1230Preciousinsink.jpg

How about it? Does anyone have an opinion about male and female cats? I want to repeat: We have owned MANY cats, so I draw my opinion from those experiences.

12-31-2006, 04:28 AM
Well, at first we had a female cat, then that cat had kittens, and we had 6 more kitties, of which I can't remember how many were girls. I don't mind having a girl kitty if they have an attitude. I'd rather my pet have an attitude than to remind me of Garfield.

I'm not kidding you. He's gaining weight, and he's an orange tabby and he's lazy. I'm afraid to find out if he likes lasagna. In fact, we named one of his sisters Lasagna. :D But she ran away. :(

Aaaaaaaaw! Precious is so cute! (^)_^

Sad to say, our wonderful Tabernathy died late in the evening of December 28, 2006. He was heading for 17, but his poor body just gave out.

I don't know if these are repeats, but here are a couple of other Taber pictures in his memory:

Taber faced the final curtain:

As he was dying, each of the other four cats came down the hall to visit him; my mom said it was as if they were paying their respects. After a week, they started playing again, which was a relief.

I love Taber! He was so adorable, and it is strange that your cats did that because when our dog Sasha died all three of our cats knew about it and did sort of the same thing, though one of our cats, Samantha, actually took on some of the personality quirks that our dog had, it was most amusing.

Now allow me to introduce everyone to my other rat that I had, her name is Peach, and yes she is a Peach Hooded Rat...I love how original with names I was XD.

OMG! What a cute picture of your kitty! Everyone knows I'm the Crazy Cat Lady, so I am an expert on cute-kittiness!

Please check out the foursome I have now. We lost our sweet ginger-and-white cat, Tabernathy, in late December. How nice to have a thread where we can share our cats.

More pictures, everyone! More! More!

I simply have to mention DS's majorly cute puppy pic. Awwww... I'm not quite a dog person, but I am a regular viewer of "The Dog Whisperer" and have a number of dogs in my pet history, the final one being Pookie the completely nutsy and aggravating Lhasa Apso.

Pyro, I forgot to post after I read your post to comment on the rat picture. I understand the UGH response to sewer rats, but pet rats are so sweet and pretty. I've encountered a number of them and got to cuddle one.

After losing Tabernathy in late December, we did not expect to add another cat to our clutter. One day, Mom called me to the front door, saying, "Look what we have out here!"

Cut to the end: We now have a ginger-and-white male to replace our dear Taber. He's nothing like Tabernathy--feisty, pugnacious, ready to scrap yet very loving to Mom and me. Mom named him Rhett because he has a mustache, but I pushed for Captain Jack Sparrow because he also has a goatee. Yes, he's soooo cute! I'll add his picture here later.

Anyway, I think of him as Cap'n Rhett Sparrow, scalawag brother to an even bigger scalawag! Teehee! Mainly, I call him Munchkin since he's about half the size of the others. They have major yowling matches, but I don't think anyone ever gets hurt. Knock on wood!!! I think they end up about a foot apart and cat-scream at each other.

Surely, someday we'll settle down to quiet days and evenings, and the kitties will play together without howling. *SIGH*

I have a little black (except behind the ears) Mutt named Monique (MoMo for short). She is crazy and hyper. She is sooooo funny and cute. I don't have a picture though.

I also have an older dog who is a brown Mutt. Also very cute. She is so sweet and protective. We've had her for like ever. Her name is Rascal. I also don't have a picture of her. But she is very cute.

I used to have a rabbit named Sprocket who was grey and white. He looked like a little cookies and creame sundae. He died of heat stroke though :(.

My sister and I used to have like six fish. We had a happy funneral for them all which means we just flushed them down the toilet bowl and cried.

We used to have a guinua pig named Ruffles but he died. I don't know what of, but we went away on a trip and I guess he got depressed or something, so he and wouldn't eat the food our neighbor fed him. So he died.

We used to also have a cat named Misty and a Shelty named Sneakers, but I was too small to remember them.

I have a Siberian Husky named Sasha. (I'm not sure how to post a photo small enough on here, so if you want one, I can email it.) She's a gorgeous black and white dog with blue eyes and an attitude a mile high! She is great company for me, I recently moved out of state and she helped a great deal to cheer me up. It was hard at first, not knowing anybody...:(

I have two dogs. One Black lab/Border Collie mix named Charlie. (charlie and I go WAY back, six or seven years ago) Who is just a really funny sweet dog... But also a fat pig. ^__^

Then moving on to my second, I have a 7 year old, 100 lb. Alaskan Malamute (we say he's part horse), who looks exactly like a wolf, and is scary to a lot of people, but in reality, he's the biggest pansy/softy in the world. We got him last summer When my Aunt and Uncle gave him to us. It was nice, because I'd gotten kicked out of girls camp the second night, and I get home, and I find that big wolf in my yard. It took some time to get to know him, so he wouldn't bite me if I did something he wasn't used to, but we're pretty good buddies now. He and Charlie will sleep on my little, twin-sized bed, with charlie at my side, and Juno on top of me. It's a pretty funny sight, but I luff my fluffy puppies.

I also have a very annoying cat named Verla, and Three horses. Bow Ti (my horse, who is a big, black mare with a funny looking blaze, see my pictures in the performer's photos), Skippy (little, copper-colored mare), and Velvet (our rescued, black American Saddlebred)

I love animals.

Do any of your pets ever do weird and random things? My dog meeko will start barking at random times of the night or day, or come running to me to take him out like 10 times in a row within an hour. It gets on my nerves but I can't help but laugh sometimes.

Yup, my cat hid in a water pipe one time, and he charged out and ate my leg. He didn't eat it, but I still have a loverly 7 inch scar on my leg. And since he was still in spaz mode, he climbed a tree and jumped out of it, scaring the crap outta my new dog. That was funny.

My new dog is a MAJOR spaz. My cat will sit by a tree, and my doggie will run about...ten feet around the tree, around in circles while the kitty just sits there. Doggie doesn't scare him.

OH, and Mr. Kitty's name is Tom Jones, and the dog (who is insanly stupid, by the way) is Sage.

Other cat...Tuxedo. Yeah, she is over-weight and she hates my new dog, so I never see her much anymore. She loved my last dog. But then he had to crawl off and die somewhere. PFFT, how rude! I miss him. His name was Bear, and he was my bestest friend. Uhh...he was a...Brittney-Golden Retriver mix. MUTT!! SMART MUTT! That dog was a genious! Unlike Sage. Sage is a Border Collie-Beagle mix, but looks more like a Rotwieler and a Black Lab.

I just realized that even though I had posted pics of Ozzy when I first brought him home I hadn't put any up of his homey Puck. So here a pic of my two favorite boys (http://i162.photobucket.com/albums/t277/JonRugger/ForFun024.jpg).

Of course when I first brought him home he looked more like this (http://i162.photobucket.com/albums/t277/JonRugger/041.jpg). They were buds from the word go (http://i162.photobucket.com/albums/t277/JonRugger/062.jpg).

I got Puck while visiting a friend in Western Kentucky. We had gone horse back riding and the owners told us they had a few kittens they were trying to find homes for, including one that they had found abandoned in the middle of the road. That's the one who made the long road trip home with me. And if anyone is wondering... yes Puck lives up to his on a daily basis.

Wow...lucky people...
Unfortuantely, my mum is allergic to cats and dogs, and basically any animal which has fur. So therefore, we're not allowed any T.T

I do have goldfish...great, aren't they jusst so interesting???
And I have two birds. Both are Rainbow Lorikeets, and both are female. They make a lot of noise, but they're both wonderful ppets, and plus, they're both ultra pretty!

My birds have this weird habit of biting anything long and tangly. eg: My hair, or the jelly snake I was eating when I had them out.
Maybe they thin its worms or something...T.T

Awww... what a great place to post. I have one dog named Bella from the Twilight series. I am not really sure what kind of dog she is. I would say she is simply a little mutt. I rescued her from the pound so she didn't face her maker. It makes me sad to think she might have if I didn't pick her up. I love my little girl. I don't have any kids, so I consider her to be my kid. :) Here is a little photo of her.

Although we lost two of our "old guys" relatively close~Tabernathy and his buddy Gremlin, Tigger hangs in there though he's getting too thin. He must be close to 18 now! He has to have an allergy shot every month, but he's doing surprisingly well for a cat his age.

Precious is as moody as ever, having never adjusted to the addition of Rhett to our home. I think I wrote about Puff before, but I can't recall if I mentioned Rhett though it's possible since we got him in the spring of 2007. He became the bully of the household yet could be a sweetheart with Mom and I!

He actually drove Precious into what can be described only as a nervous breakdown; she became agoraphobic to such an extent that she was staying in a small place out of our reach, apparently rarely venturing out. At that time, I could barely stand up or walk and couldn't help my mother who was determined to dismantle Precious' stronghold~which she did! By then, Precious was about one-third her usual size! We were so shocked since we believed that she surely must be eating, drinking and moving around when Rhett was in the house. I don't think she did! Now, she lies on pillows next to my desk, and she still won't hop down and move around.

A big change came when we decided to adopt two abandoned kittens born May 9; they were barely weaned when their mother began pursuing a male cat to be mated again! So, we made the decision to bring them in though we were concerned about Rhett, which proved to be a real worry when he kept exhibiting hostile behavior toward the little male. Our problem was solved when, first, Puff decided to escape and would not come to the door or allow us to capture him. We both decided that Puff had been acting extremely bored and just might be suited to outdoor life. When Rhett continued attacking the kittens, he joined Puff outdoors and seems to be exceedingly happy about being able to lie on a chair on the porch, watching the world and patrolling around the house! He's less-aggressive and doesn't bite or scratch me when I pet him! We might bring him in during cold weather; by then, the kittens will have grown enough to be safer.

So, we have four inside cats: Tigger, Precious, Stormcloud/Stormy (black female), and Sunshine/Sunny (cream male)! Outside, we actually have a number of cats who find Mom's garden a great spot to relax, catch insects and other tiny critters, and play: Puff, Rhett, Sophie, Hekyll, Jekyll, Felicia, Hitler (a mean tom actually named Bobby!), and Mamacat. My mother, who generally never named animals, went on a naming binge!

I did some reading on the net and found that a group of cats you see frequently is called a colony. "Our" colony members range from feral to semi-feral~almost close enough to pet but not quite. A couple of them are pets who will allow you to pet them. They tend to pull the Puff-escape then allow themselves to be caught. I think our Puff actually is happier as a semi-feral; he never was much to enjoy cuddling.

Stormy and Sunny have adapted beautifully to living in the house! They understood the litterbox on their first try! I moved the little paws, and *click* they understood! They aren't afraid of the vacuum cleaner, fans or much of anything else they encounter. Sunny might have a bit of trouble later, as he might have been born too soon; his ears were folded for a couple of weeks, the bridge of his nose was too wide, his eyes were very small and separated more than usual, and his ears were not quite in the right place. However, only a few weeks later, he looks nearly normal and is adorable, with big, blue eyes! Both kittens had upper respiratory infections, but the veterinarian medicated them, and they haven't had to have their faces bathed since!

At our ages, we didn't expect to take on two babies, but I'm so happy that we did!

EDIT: I'm amazed at how much Ozzy and Puck resemble Sunny and Stormy as to coloration! I wonder if they'll look like that when they're older.

I really must catch up with pet posts and pictures!

My family has a total of 14 or 15 "pets" and at one point we had about 20.

All together we have 3 dogs (2 mine that I nickname Bubble and Baby though Bubble is the youngest.) 2 cats (one mine named Chamer) around 10 birds and 1 fish.
I have photo's but they maybe a bit big so if you'd like to see them P.M me and I'll send them.

I love them all very much my Bubble always loves to meet new people and you maybe lucky enough to get her to write you (She loves to get on my keyboard and have a say when I'm typing)

I've always grown up with animals and look after bush animals inclubing foxes.

People say I am more animal then human and I can't say that they are wrong.

Sad to report that my dog, Charlie, passed away May 21, 2008 at 9:30 PM. He was hit by a car, and we had to put him down. :(

Now, we still have Juno, 7 new cats added to Verla. Hammy (orange tom cat), Nice Gray Cat (silver tabby tom), Grizzabella and Gray Baby (two tabby kittens that we found in a garbage truck when they were only a few days old, we nursed them back to health, and now they are known as Death and Destruction), another stray cat, and my Aunt's cats next door, Snowball and Mittens.

And Friday when I was selling concessions at our homecoming game, a few girls handed a very cute BIG puppy who is about three months old. He looks like a cross between a Saint Bernard and an Australian shepard or Border collie or something like that. He's yellow on his back, with black guard hairs, tail and face, white legs, white belly, white tip on his tail, and his muzzle and up around his eyes has the black and white color patterns of a badger, and he has droopy, bloodshot eyes typical to a St. Bernard. I've named him Bubba

And did I mention how big he already is? Good news for Juno, because when Bubba grows up, he can tirelessly play with Juno, without being intimidated by Juno's size.

My dogs are sweethearts. I love them.

Oh, Nancy, that's terrible! *huggles Nancy Lee*

Well, I still have Tuxie and Tom Jones...Bear passed away. I'm not sure when, because my neighbors found him...but I do know that he might of died on his birthday. What a great present...death...

I have new doggies. Sage. I might of already talked about her but I don't remember. She is a spazzy 3-year-old Border Collie-beagle-mix, but she looks more like a small, black lab and a rot-wiler...she's my babay.

And a new, 8 week old yellow lab names Sammy. He's also my babay. <3

EDIT: Okay, Sage went AWOL and Sammy is in his biting HARD stage. He's evil. And no one really cares about the goats or cows. X)

I have a bunch of fish and 3 dogs.

First, there's my mom's dog, Maggie, a Standard Daschund. She is really shy and really doesn't like having anything to do with anybody who's not my mom. She's still a sweet dog despite that. She is a dark red color.

Then there's my stepdad's dog, Abby, a Husky-Pit Bull mix. She is really rambunctious and despite her hyperactive personality, she is really sweet.
(When you come home, one of the first things you see is a tan hurricane hurling herself on you. We're trying to teach her not to jump up.) She is a tan color.

Last, there's my dog, Lucy. She is my baby and is a little ornery. She sleeps with me every night. She is a "Pug-A-Poo", a Pug-Poodle mix. She is white with tan spots here and there and she is also incredibly cute.

You know how most dogs lose thiere puppy cuteness sooner or later? She hasn't.

I have a feeling I'm going to enjoy posting in this thread :)

I have four cats and a mouse.

Here's Eli. He's a Chartreux, a rare French breed. My mom and I found him in a nature park where a family had dropped off a mother and her kittens. Eli had wandered away from his brothers and sisters and I found him playing in a field. He actually can say my name and says it when he wants my attention or when he hasn't seen me in a long while.

Here's Oreo. My sister's fiance's brother called and said a cat had been dropped off at a Petland near me. The Petland said they would be bringing her to a nearby animal shelter but that animal shelter wasn't taking anymore cats. So that would mean Oreo would have been put out on the street! Luckily, we were able to take her and she loves my sister tons and tons and tons.

Here's Meehai. We got this crazy little guy when my apartment building's superintendent found a little itsy bitsy kitten trying to get into the building. My dad who passing by said "I'll take him!" We got his name from a Hungarian flight attendant I met while waiting for my sister and her fiance at the airport. Meehai is more like a dog than a cat. He runs out of his room making a barking noise and likes to jump on top of my grandma. :goofy:

Here's Gerry (yes, named after Gerard Butler:goofy:). Gerry was actually a stray. My mom and I feed feral cats at a brown field near my apartment building. There are so many of them there. We're going to try to do a TVSR program there. That means trap - spay/neuter - return (I DO NOT want to do this). Anyway, Gerry got actustomed to my mom's prescense after a while and she began being very friendly and affectionate. She is the sweetest lady you would ever meet. I'm serious. She really likes me, too. Whenever I come into the room, she makes like a happy screaming noise and walks to me. My sister is in this photo.

I have a dog (Cairn Terrier, Uisge), a lizard (blue tongued-skink, Ozzy), a number of tropical fish including a male betta (Desmond), two cats who aren't technically mine but don't tell anyone (Ghost and Lucifer), and a fox (Damien).

Well, I wouldn't actually call Damien a pet, but as I looked out for him when he was a cub he's come to trust me enough to allow me to touch him and often takes food from my hand. And he's good friends with the cats, too!

I recently got a rabbit named Coco. I used to think she was evil, pure evil and demonic. That was, until I began voulenteering at the local Animal Shelter. The got a rabbit in named Farmer Boy and he was skiddish, but he was also very feisty so if he touched him, he would scratch violently and bite (something Coco doesn't do). My upper arms are now scarred from my encounters with that rabbit. But fortunately, after having Coco and another rabbit earlier (Sprocket), I came out with the least amount of scratches. When I got home, I was sure to play with Coco and give her some extra TLC as a reward for her awesome, non-evil-ness.

I don't recall if I was able to post pictures of my cat Rhett, but I certainly will once I get set up for it. You see, a neighbor's dog got loose today, unfortunately one of the rare times Rhett was not in the house. He was a big, strong cat, but he could not fight off this dog, which killed our wonderful, intelligent, loving, amazing Rhett. He was named after Rhett Butler for the little (ginger) mustache he had, as we had just seen "Gone With the Wind" before this charming little furry scoundrel showed up on our front porch.

The neighbor did nothing to the dog besides claim she was sorry and put him on leash! That makes me wonder how many animals he's killed and received no punishment for it. We have little children in the neighborhood, but she doesn't seem concerned about the possibility of her dog attacking them. What's also bad is that this same dog barks day and night and causes other dogs to act up. I have to be around him~either seeing and/or hearing him~every day, knowing that he killed one of the most remarkable animals we have ever encountered. We used to say that Rhett could be taught tricks since he was so clever that he frequently surprised us. He also would have been one for cat shows, as he had such bearing, with this broad, white chest.

By the way: I leaned toward calling him Rhett Sparrow because he also had a little ginger goatee that was adorable.

Again, I'm not sure that I was able to load any pictures of him before my laptop change, so perhaps someday, I'll have a gallery of the felines we have now: The Empress Precious Pye aka Precious (female); Prince Puffnstuff aka Puff aka Puffster aka Puffarama (male); Stormcloud aka Stormy (female); Sunshine aka Sunny (male); and Peachy Keeno aka Peachy aka Pumpkinseed aka Pumpkin aka The Baby (male).

Poor little Peachy hero-worshipped Rhett. They played together every day and slept together, Rhett treating Peachy like his little brother. They were both ginger and white, so people thought they were brothers. When I put Stormy to bed in the garage (their home, as who needs to keep a car in the garage?!), Peachy ran to me and looked up, and I swear that it seemed as if he was asking, "Where's Rhett?" Instead of playing this evening, he slept out in the garage, and we wonder if he does know that something happened. If they were in the window, they would have seen it happen.

Gosh! I didn't mean to go on and on so much. We've just had too many kitty losses. Tabernathy died in December 2007; Gremlin, just a few months later. Tigger, whose health was failing, got out the door one evening and never came back, making us wonder if he knew he was dying and didn't want us to see it happen. Maybe he wanted one last great adventure. Maybe he didn't want to die indoors like his two friends did. I know he's probably dead by now, as he was rather frail, but I hope he did have an adventure that matched the one that brought him to me. People found him on the side of a country road and took him to a pet shop in a mall about 35 miles to the north. Back when I was able to get around, a friend and I decided to check out the bookstore~and the pet shop, which is where I fell in love with Tigger. No, it wasn't an imaginative name, as he was a black-and-grey striped cat; but, it's the one he would meow to when I said it!

Now, I shall go away and perhaps make some banners. I haven't felt up to writing, so I'm lucky I don't have RPing to do. Instead, I'll try to get my mind off Rhett just a little with pictures and bright colors.

He always sit at the top of our old playground in the backyard and acts like he's all mighty! Just like Simba/Mufasa from Lion King. He occasionally gets into cat fights, but it's all good after because they are just 'playing'. But I tell you, he's one feisty little thing :D

Whitey does that to me sometimes, and he sometimes steps on my laptop's keyboard (but he hasn't damaged anything yet. If he does, I'll know that whatever I was working on should never reach the Internet).
Bandit begs for attention, but he's rather squirmy when being held, and he's not really allowed in the house with his claws. Whitey is much more laid back.

I have to announce that, as exhausted as I am and that's so tired that I sometimes fall asleep in my chair, which I'ver never done, Sassy Babylove seems to be thriving! She's a stolen kitten brought to us by Sophie, this mixed-up, semi-feral mamacat who lives on our front porch, where she also has had three litters. Instead of bringing us mice and other kills, she started bringing us kittens that can't be hers! We would place them in the garden, and apparently they were reclaimed~except for this tiny gray-and-white kitten. We couldn't bear to leave her helpless another night, and none of the other mother cats would nurse her. So, we tackled what is considered one of the most difficult feats: raising a very, very young, unweaned kitten. She's increased her size quite a lot and has gone from eyes barely open to tottering around the living room, clear into the kitchen and also down the hall to the bathroom (well, most of the way there). She wrestles with Stevie and Jackie, the last of Sophie's most-recent litter.

We're hoping that Stevie will start doing better, as she's failing to thrive, being the runt of the litter. We're hoping we can help her as much as we have Sassy.

We did not mean to adopt so many kittens, but Sophie is not a good mother. When they're about the age to wean, she leaves them and begins courtship. *sigh* Right now, we have four of her babies: Sunny and Stormy, who are one year old; Peachy, who is about nine months old; and Stevie and Jackie, who are closing in on two months old. *whew* We are trying to find homes for the latter two but want them to get stronger and less fragile before we send them on their way.

They have helped us get over the horrible loss of our beautiful, brilliant Rhett, but we miss him every day.

I loved my dead fish. I was going to name him Pierre, but he died before I could dub him such a name. I found him with bit makes in the side of him and I guessed that they Angel fish took a disliking to him. Pierre--almost to be--was a white--albino cat fish with the longest whiskers I had ever seen. I never took picture or anything because he didn't like light. So he stayed near this rock that I had bought.

We're currently harboring two adorable little kittens. One is gray and one is white with gray markings. Both are boys and I refer to them as Mistofolees and Rum Tum Tugger. They're so sweet but we can only pick one to keep. Mistofolees (the gray one) bares an uncanny resemblance to my recently deceased cat, Squeak. My dad is more partial to that one. But the other is so playful! It'll be hard to choose in the end.

Someday, I am going to have more pictures to share, as our kitty household has changed quite a lot. Our three "old guys" are gone: Tabernathy, Gremlin and Tigger. Puff wants to live outdoors, and he was having so many health problems that we decided to let him roam, as he might not have a lot of time left. He's actually doing much better than we expected and wondered if much of his quietness was because of losing his three friends.

I won't go through all of the changes that led up to our present lineup of indoor & outdoor cats, the latter free to go where they want, but they choose to live on our front and back porches AND have kittens there. *sigh* We have taken in several though, and we now have these though some might have other homes in time:
The Empress Precious Pye aka Precious, our queen bee of cats
Stormcloud aka Stormy (female) and Sunshine aka Sunny (male), who were littermates abandoned by their mother, Sophie // They were the only survivors from tomcat attacks. Stormy spends most of her time outdoors but had a mishap that has made her rather skittish; so, she's been an indoor cat for about a week.
Peachy Keeno aka Peachy, the only kitten (male) Sophie had after Stormy and Sunny~and also abandoned (OK, so, she's not the most loving mommy cat!)
Jackie Amelia~She's another Sophie kitten. We found homes for the other littermates.
Muffin~Sophie stole her from who knows where, and her mother never came for her though we kept waiting. We couldn't bear to let her be, very likely to die since she was so listless.
Sassy Babylove aka Sassy~This is the kitten that kept me from RPing for quite a while as I tried to raise her from a little creature who looked more like a mole or a mouse, nothing like a cat. Sophie had stolen her, too, and we had left her in the garden, thinking her mother might come for her. When that didn't happen after more than a day, we couldn't bear seeing her so helpless. She didn't even have her eyes open yet, and we knew that she couldn't have been weaned. Now, only about a month or so later (I've lost track of time actually), she's a sturdy kitten, no longer Miss MouseyMole or even Koala Kitty, as I dubbed her when she was out of the MMM stage (Say it singsongy: Miss MouseyMole Koala Kitty!). I'm proud that Mom and I got her this far though Mom says that I was the one responsible because I talked to her and even carried her around in a pouch I made in my caftans and other garments.

Outdoors, we have Sophie, who lets us pet her; Mama Cat (Sophie's sister), who doesn't trust us but will eat the catfood provided; Hekyll, one of Sophie's kittens grown into a very milld-mannered tom who doesn't seem interested in ladycats; and Felicia, who now lets us pet her and who has two gorgeous kittens who are getting used to us~Scamper and Mewsette. The latter looks like she might be part Himalayan or Siamese, and I'd love to tame at least her. There's no doubt about it: With these cats and others who wander around, we definitely have what is called a colony of cats.

Did you know that Cimetiére de Montmartre has a colony of cats?! When looking for banner images, I came across some pictures on Flicker.

I hate to be random, but since this is a thread with people that have animals I think it would be appropriate. I still has to do with my kitty. Is it, by any chance, normal for a cat to eat or chew on grass. I know the silly thing is eating it because his mouth is green and so is his....poo. and so yea. Why? Any animal experts?

It's not at all unusual for cats and kittens to eat grass, but they can become ill if a lot of chemicals have been used on the lawn or if insecticides were used. It's their way of cleansing their system, so, yes, you will see it in their stool. You can grow grass indoors for them in pots and planters if they can't go outdoors. We have to watch that our cats and kittens don't nibble the few plants my mom has kept.

I found this at one site:
Even if they're eating the best cat food in the world, cats may need a little help with digestion. Tender green grasses help provide this assistance. Cats are actually biologically programmed to eat grass for this very reason.

A Cat Eating Grass is a Healthy Cat

However, this craving for munching on greens can get a kitty in trouble. In the absence of safe grasses, cats will often eat anything green they can find, which may include decorative or even poisonous plants. Having a safe alternative planted on the windowsill can save you and your cat a lot of grief. ... Eating cat grass can also help your cat in another important way -- to cough up fur balls. Yep, that's another reason your cat need grass it helps a cat cough up fur balls that develop in their stomach as a result of all that grooming.

We ended up getting the gray kitty, whom we have undfortunatly not named Mistofolees. His name is Henry but we often refer to him as Hen. I call him baby more often than anything though. He's such a sweetey! He's playful and yet he goes to sleep almost instantly on your lap. I don't want him to get any bigger! He's too cute!

Jakey, my other cat, is beside himself though. He feels like he's being replaced. Poor dear. It's my job to give him the extra love since he takes such a liking to me. Hopefully he'll get over it soon.

Sadly, my sweet Sassy Babylove died Thursday afternoon of feline distemper, which, the veterinarian told us, is going around now. They've had many losses. Sassy seemed a little feverish and slept a lot Wednesday, which isn't surprising with kittens and cats. She didn't want to play and didn't wander around the house. When I put her to bed at 2:30 a.m. Thursday, I was very worried because she seemed disoriented. Mom called the vet, and we took her, Muffin and Jackie in, just in case. He told us our options and made it plain that Sassy would not live out the day. A steroid shot might keep her going for a week. IVs and other expensive measures might extend her life but not for long. Rather than do any of that, we took her back home and made her comfortable. She died only a few hours later. When we explained that Sassy had been stolen from her mother by Sophie at such a young age, he said that, since she hadn't been able to nurse, she didn't receive the protection babies do from mother's milk. He said that many cats get the virus; some never become ill, some become ill but get well, while some die quickly.

I guess I was overconfident about Sassy because she was developing into such a sturdy little character, playful, strong and curious. I used to hold her up, looking into her odd little alien-looking face, and ask, "What are you going to look like when you grow up?" Oddly, my sister asked her the same thing during a recent visit; she said that Sassy didn't look like any kitten she had ever seen. I thought she was going to be an interesting-looking cat, with her regal look that reminded us of statues of Bast.

That's not the only loss we've had recently. Puff died about a week ago. He had been injured, but he wouldn't let us catch him to have him checked. We thought perhaps the wound had abscessed, as sometimes happens. He was lying in the back lawn late one night. I went out to check on him, supposing he wouldn't let me near him, and had such a sinking feeling when he didn't move when I called his name. When I got close to him, I saw that he was dead. We knew that he was ill with something that caused him to limp and to pull out fur on his hindquarters; so, perhaps time simply ran out for him. I wish that he had stayed an indoor cat, yet he did seem to be more content outdoors.

Another loss is Mewsette, who showed up with injuries that could have been from an animal attack. Sadly, she wouldn't let us catch her to see if we could help her. A couple of things I saw in connection to her injuries sent me to the Net, where it advised caution about coming in contact with an injured animal showing these signs. I wish that we could have adopted this kitten to give her a full life. Since she had been weaned, perhaps she wouldn't have become ill with distemper.

We do have some good news. Muffin and Jackie Amelia seem to be getting stronger after a troublesome period that might have been them fighting off that virus, which the vet suggested could have happened. I wish that Sassy could have survived because she truly was a special little girl. When I grieved over her having such a short life, Mom said that she would have died as a tiny kitten if not for us and that I had dedicated so much time to her that she knew she was beloved.

I know this must be a downer, but maybe I needed to write about it to help me get over the losses. I need to do that because my heart has been doing too much "whooshing", and I've needed several doses of magnesium and baby aspirin. Even when I tell myself I can't get upset, my body seems not to pay attention.

Perhaps I can do some RPing this weekend to take my mind off all that has happened.

I have a pet mouse. Her name is Fancy. I got her and her sister whom I named Princess at a white elephant gift exchange. Note: never do this it is not a good idea. Princess ran away a while back. I love Fancy to death. She will probably die though sometime this year. When this event happens I will be nervous wreak. I uploaded a picture of Fancy on photobucket.

Here's a common story. I love it when my cat or dog comes into the house with some foreign animal dead in their jaw. They seem to want to please you by looking at you with joy. But you just can't help to say "Bad dog/cat" with a huge smile in your face...

Oh yea that's Simba....*I shall get picture soon*

PS Marie...your dog is darling!

LOL! I've heard that "I've brought you dead things!" story from my friends who have cats. Sometimes, the dead things aren't quite dead, and are still moving. Ugh!

And Pete's a spoiled brat. He knows it, too. But at 15 years of age, I guess he's entitled to be a brat.

My sister and I have a dog of whom we named Kes (Yes, yes we got that name from Star Trek: Voyager. So sue me.) and I have a cat named Shine. Shine is a male cat, and his species of cat is unknown. Not even the vet knows what he is. He used to be fat and really furry, but now he has lost some weight. T^T Shine will be 6 years old this month. Kes is a pikinese/pug mix, and is only around 6 months old.

I used to have a dog, Kiri, but we had to put her down at the age of 14 in 2007...

We then got another dog though, and her name is Jingles. She's part Lab and part Terrier Pitbull. I love[d] them both to death.

Here you can discuss about your animals, pets, post photos, joke about them and more.

I have two cats, a dog, and a snake. One of my cats lives with my parents in Maryland because I got him when I was eighteen-years-old, and he was old when I moved to Sweden (he was six at the time...he just turned nine recently). His name is Solstice, and he's pictured in "My Pets" album on my profile.

The other cat I have lives next store in the barn because my SO is very anti-kitty cat (why? I have no idea). His name is Aaron, and he's about three months old. He isn't pictured yet on the album, but I got pics of him on my cell phone. I just got to put them on the computer.

I just got a puppy three weeks ago. She's a black lab named Raven. She's the first dog I have ever owned. She's going to be three months old next week. She's pictured on the album on my profile.

My snake is a boa constricter named Hugo. Darling and I have no idea how old he is because the previous owner never remarked about his age, and my SO didn't ask when he adopted him from the previous owner (who happens to be an ex-co worker of darling's). He is at seven feet long the last time we measured him. He's pictured on my profile.

I recently lost my sixteen-year-old cat. He was put to sleep last month because his liver was failing. It was linked to a two year fight he had with hyperthyroidism. His name was Sonic, and he was mostly my brother's cat. However, I saw him as a nephew of mine. If you want to see pics of him, let me know and I'll add him to the album or make a album dedicated to the pets I've lost.

Okay I need to stop talking about him, but Josh Groban has the cutest dog in the world!

I might get a dog like that later in the year(s). I really really want one because I've never had the friendship between with a dog...they just seem that amazing! My brother can have Simba, (who scratched up my leg a week ago...Thanks a lot!) I'm going to get a dog that looks like...I'm not sure but the breed is a sweeten terrier...I think...wow I fail at knowing my breeds.

Hidde Silk- Oh my gosh, I didn't even know he had a dog! That thing is sssoooo cute! -huggles- I had a dog a few months ago, a pikinese (sp?) whom I called Dax. She was completely white, and was adorable. One of her eyes was smaller than the other, though, and thus a lot of people didn't like her. Unfortunately, I suppose I'm not much of a dog person, because that dog got on my nerves. I ended up having to give her away. T^T

I have a Red Australian Cattle Dog/Dingo mix. His name is Jazz Amadeus. Jazzy is my best bud and extremely smart. it's crazy. I'm putting him through training to be a Therapy Dog/ R.E.A.D Dog. I took this pic of him.

I also have a Paint horse gelding named Apache Erik. His registered name is Apache White Sock. I have had him for over 5 years. He is my rock, my saving grace. He is all he is beacuse of me. He was branded dangerous when I got him and I have worked him through his issues so he can be trusted with anyone. We are now riding 5 levels away from Olympic level.

I just got a beautiful border collie puppy. He is a rough coated male tri-color and he comes from a good breeder! His name is Kona. He is soo cute. It looks like his legs, feet, and face is covered with dirt but it's really just his tan markings since he's a tri-color! We used to have a female black and white smooth coated border collie named Nani, but she had to be put down a few days ago. She had cancer and it just spread so insanely fast! We seem to have a hawaiian thing going on when it comes to naming our dogs. Kona got his name because it's the city where my my brother and I were born. Nani got her name because it means "pretty" in hawaiian and she was just a cute little dog. The difference between a smooth coat and a rough coat is that the smooth coat's hairs are shorter. Rough coats also don't have the same type of undercoat. Rough coats are the border collies that you typically see in movies like Babe and The Dog Year.
