I doubt there's many fans of it here, and I bet this thread will die quickly. O_o; Oh well.

I love listening to (some) Japanese rock music. It's just so awesome. And it's so nice to have a change!

The only disadvantage is that it's more difficult to do karaoke with. :o But that should be obvious. It's probably good for people learning the language.

In my opinion; Jrock is an internet hobby, as far as most US/Canadian/etc people are. I know a few groups, though, such as Moi dix Mois, have been to France and Germany.

Some good general sites:

http://www.projectj.net/

http://www.jrockonline.com/

http://www.jrocksaga.com/

Those are just some to start with. If you become an actual fan, you'll need to expand, perhaps to various rotation sites.

My favorite groups/people are:

hide
Metronome
Zilch (A group hide was in before he died.)
Malice Mizer
Moi dix Mois
Miyavi
Thee Michelle Gun Elephant
Vidoll
Oblivion Dust

I know of a bunch of hide and a few Metronome sites, but I haven't really looked for the others. I recommend a Google search. >P

hide sites:

http://lemoned.2ya.com/
http://hide.hotarubi.net/
http://www.honeyblade.com/
http://www.hide-city.co.uk/
http://www.madskies.org/hide/
http://www.geocities.com/cafele_psyence/

By the way, it's pronounced 'hee-day', not the typical English 'hide'.

And my favorite Meto site is http://www.death-chocolates.com/. ^_^

If you want any samples, feel free to PM me. :O

I'm a J-rock and J-pop fan! Well, when I can listen to it, that is. The CDs are pretty hard to find, even here in Hawaii. The radio stations hardly ever play it! :( I also love hide and Vidoll. :D

You're so awesome. *__* XD

I can't find it anywhere where I live... And I'm a pretty poor person because of it. XP;

What groups do you like listening to?

And they actually play it there occasionally? Lucky duck!

I love Jrock & Jpop, although I only have one CD, because my only access to them is the internet. Japanaradio is an awesome internet radio, folks, where I listen.

I agree, it's awesome for people learning the language. I'm...er...attempting to. (Well, I went to Japanese camp last summer, and was going to again but was too late.) But I'm going to major in it in college. I love it.

It's not necessarily more difficult to do karaoke with. If you can find the romaji (or not, if you can read it - I only know hiragana) to a slow song and practice a bit XD

I like Gackt. And Dir en Grey, though I'm not sure how you spell it.

That's my post, folks.

I get my CDs from Yesasia.com. They're expensive, but I believe they're legit, unlike many anime sites. D: I've got two Miyavi singles, a Malice Mizer album, one hide album, and... A Gackt, maybe? I'm not sure... I haven't listened to that particular one in like, a decade. XD

I plan on studying Japanese in college too... But I have a while to go, so I'll just listen to music I don't really understand in the mean time. ;)

I do sing karaoke to it occasionally. When I'm by myself. ^_~ I'm just saying it's probably harder to do accurately with just your ears. Singing Meto karaoke is fun! Doing 'Jekyll de Hyde' is especially entertaining.

You spelled Dir en Grey right. =)

I have heard some Jrock songs and I have to say I find them pretty good.
I can't find them in my country too, and I will wait 2 more years to be able to buy anything through internet. Then I will.
I was thinking on studying Japanese too. When I will be learning in High School.. I think it is interesting language.

The only J-rock I've heard are anime ending/opening songs. I'm a deprived girl. lol. Anyways, the only way I can sing in Japanese is if I'm looking at the lyrics and am listening to the song.

The good thing is that I can find quite a number of J-rock CDs in Singapore.

You're quite lucky... I've never been able to buy a J-rock CD in my life... Not even L'arc-en-Ciel's! +_+; (I don't really like them that much anyway, but... I would have supported them.)

If you ever want anything, Mysteria, you can e-mail me, since you can't buy it either. ^^; Gotta support each other! <3

Hmm... What's your favorite FMA theme? =D; I can help you get started with more groups if I knew your taste...

Hmm ... A hard question. I practically like all the songs. My biggest favourite would have to be 'Rewrite' by Asian Kung-Fu Generation. I normally prefer the songs with a faster beat. Or whatever. lol.

The kids in Japanese club at school have taken to annoying us all by trying to sing "Over The Rainbow" very loudly. And no, not the Judy Garland version. :D

-does a huge squee fest-

I'M NOT ALONE <33

And here I was thinking me and my friends were all weirdos for liking Japanese music. Hmm. Not no more ^^

I would love to list all the artists I love, but it would take forever. You could basicallt look at my last.fm account, but generally I'm in love with HYDE, Luna Sea, Gazette, Dir en grey (okay, seriously, who ISN'T in love with Dir en grey xDD), and of course ... pretty boy Gackt.

Since Canada is an under developed country concerning good music stores, it's pretty impossible to get cds and the like. This is why eBay and YESasia are praised greatly =D although I prefer raiding my friend's hard drives and stealing their music instead xDD

I take Japanese lessons, therefore karaoke isn't that har to do xDD It's generally the fast songs that get me, like "Vanilla" by Gackt and Orange Range songs < 3

Anyone notice the Japanese infatuation with french? It's all over the music it seems xDD Rentrer en Soi, L'arc~en~Ciel, Moix meme Moitie ... -goes on and on and on-

(and I'm pretty sure that is NOT how you spell Moix meme Moitie xDD)

^__^ Yay~

I'm afraid I haven't been exposed to much Jrock. And what I heard, I wasn't fond of (but that was a few years ago when I was REALLY into pop stuff). The only experience I've had really is Gackt music (because, well, he's my AVATAR for crying out loud! XP)

But I am a huuuuuge J-pop fan. I have two karaoke websites of Jpop music. *LOVE them* But I'm going to have to check out the websites you listed, Cain.

The woman I babysit for went to Japan for a week. @_@ She asked me what I wanted her to bring back for me. I said music. I'm not sure if it is classified as Jrock or pop (or... can even be classified because it has a little of everything), but it is the most AMAZING CD ever. *hearts* And I don't order stuff online, so this was a big deal considering I haven't heard a new piece of music in four years.

Gackt, Hyde, etc.

It was through love of anime that got me constantly listening to J!Pop and J!Rock. Which I don't mind a bit. I am in love with Gackt.... he is.... just my idol or something. I dunno. But yeah. I love Gackt!

*can die happy now*

Can't buy any CD's here though :(

GACKT

HASBECOMEMYREASONFORLIVINGJUSTRECENTLY

*hides from hordes of longstanding Gackt fans* I know, I know - my devotion is feeble, I'm just jumping on the bandwagon, and I really don't understand him or his music... Well, let me tell you this: You're 100% right. I haven't a clue what half his music is about, but I adore his sound and his vibe... ^_____^ Either way, I <333 him right now. XD Lemme know who else is worth listening to.

Oh, and me lahve 'Vanilla'.

Hmm, I don't think I've heard J-rock, but I love the J-pop band Morning Musume! Maybe I'll look at some of those links at some point and see if I like it. :)
