This is my phanfic, I've posted it one www.fanfiction.net but I just wanted to show it to you guys in here as well... It's the telling of the developing of Christine and Erik's relaitionship, and is mostly based on ALW and Kay, but also a bit of Leroux thrown in here and there. It gets darker during the chapters which means sexuality (but not explicit) as well as some violence. Please give it a try, it's close to my heart and I would like some comments about it.
----------------------------------------------
Prologue
I sit here gazing out of the window in my home. My hands are cold in the early winters chill and I draw my woollen shawl tighter around me. I always feel cold by now, because I know that my death draws closer with every day that passes by, its only a matter of time.
Erik and Raoul
None of you deserved the sorrow I caused you, I wish I could take that back, and make your lives those of joy, but I m not able to, forgive me, because I love both of you
The story is without a doubt well known too you. Its the story of the disfigured musical genius haunting the awe inspiring Opera Garnier. A love aching soul cast out and turned into a demon by the evils of mankind, the most pitiful man I will ever get to meet. I hope with all my heart that no one will ever be treated like Erik was.
Its the story of the beautiful young opera singer caught in a tragic love triangle between her mentor and her childhood love.
Its a tragic story of love, hatred, obsession, jealousy and desire,
No one knows this story better than I. I Christine Daae, the woman who was loved by the phantom.
Youve heard the story from Raoul, but in truth the story started many years before his version, it started with the stories my beloved father Gustave Daae told me about the angel of music

chapter 1 - father
The scene was like something picked from a fairytale. A young girl about ten years of age was lying in a bed underneath the colourful covers. She had a mob of chestnut hair and she was humming a soft lullaby. That was the only memory she had of her mother. Chestnut curls like her own and a soft voice humming the lullaby.
A man, with the same brilliant blue eyes like Christine was sitting beside the bed and cleaning a priceless and well kept Stradivarius. His fingers moved slowly over the shining tree. Thick flaxen hair grazed his shoulders that were broad and strong. Gustav Daae, one of Frances most famous and honoured violinists. He was a widow man, and the only thing he had left of his darling wife, was a little girl with the same hair and smile as his Elsa.
The little girl turned towards her father, and smiled at him
Papa, will you tell me a story?
Her father looked up from his violin and smiled at her. He carefully tucked the priceless instrument down in it case, and leaned over so his arms were resting on the edge of the bed.
I will tell you about the angel of music my sweetheart.
Christine smiled and cuddled herself even deeper into the madras.
The angel of music is one of gods most loved angels. He lives among the clouds in heaven, in a palace of pearls, silver and moonlight. His voice is more beautiful than anything can describe, it is him who walks among the babies cradles and purrs dust of starlight and moonlight on the babies. This is his gift, the ability to sing, play or compose beautifully, and in time he will make sure that it develops.
Christine starred at her father with huge eyes and then asked What does he looks like?
One do not see the angel of music my sweet. I you him, you will be struck with madness. That is why so many musicians genius have been turned to madness. His voice is enough Christine he said seriously
Why will they be struck with madness papa? Christine asked curiously, his stories always spellbound her.
Because the supreme beauty of him is enough to drive anyone mad her father said strictly. Now go to sleep mon petit ange.
Christine kissed his cheek, and her father ruffled her hair.
As Gustav turned of the light and walked out of the room with his violin case under his arm, Christine thought with all the naïve stubbornness of a child, that she would not go mad if she saw the angel of music, and with a content smile she fell asleep. She stars were twinkling merrily above her.

chapter 2 - Christine's new guardian
Madame Antoinette Giry sat in the carriage that would take her to Brest, where she would pick up her new foster child. Her long time friend the violinist Gustav Daae had died, and left his only child Christine in her care. Gustav had been one of her best friends, so how could she refuse his wish for his daughter, to be a student at the opera, in which she was the dance instructor. Elsa had been one of her best friends also, so she would with pleasure take this child under her wings. She had a daughter, a few months older than Christine; she would raise them as sisters.
A few hours later she arrived at the little village close to Brest, where Gustav had lived the last year of his live. When the carriage stopped she ignored the drivers outstretched hand and stepped outside herself. She was met outside by a servant.
Madame Giry? she young girl asked hesitantly, tears glittering in the corners of her eyes.
Yes thats me Antoinette said calmly.
Mademoiselle Daae is in her room, she has been there since her fathers funeral, and she will not come out, not even to eat.
Take me to the young mademoiselles room Antoinette said just as calmly as before, but worry showed in her eyes.
She was let upstairs in the elegant house, to a closed door. Antoinette could hear hoarse sobs from the other side of the door.
She gently knocked at the door Christine Daae, are you inside?
Who are you? a tearful voice croaked from the other side of the door.
Im your new guardian, Antoinette Giry, I great friend of both your mother and your father, you are going to live with me, in the opera house in which I teach.
Do you work in an opera house? now there was interest in the hoarse voice.
Aha, she loves music Antoinette thought triumphantly No wonder, her mother a ballet dancer, and her father a violinist
Yes, if you come out and eat some, and take a bath I will tell you about it.
There was a hesitant silence and then Okay, but you promise you arent lying?
Cross my heart and hope to die, if I lie to you.
The sound of a key that unlocked the door sounded, and revealed a pale little girl dressed in a black dress. Antoinette watched her with pity, she had black bags under her eyes, which were red from crying, her skin was white as chalk and the black colour of her mourning dress didnt suit her.
The maid had already disappeared to make dinner for her young mistress.
After eating her dinner and taking a hot bath, Christine was not that pale anymore, this pleased Antoinette, and she started to tell the girl about her new home.
I work in the Parisian opera, as the dance instructor. You can study any part of the arts that are taught in at the opera. Your father told me you could sing excellently, and you have inherited your mother slim body, which would serve you good if you want to be a dancer. And I have a little daughter about your age, shes called Marguerite, but all calls her Meg, and she has been looking forward to seeing you.
Really? Christine asked with sparkling eyes.
Yes, shes convinced that once you two get to know each others, you will be like sisters.
Christine smiled Id like that
Antoinette hid a smile, and then took a sip of her lemonade. The girl was definitely cheering up.
When are we going to Paris? Christine asked.
Well, we need to sort the things here, and do you want the house to be sold, or do you want to keep it?
Christines lips quivered I dont know, it is my home.
Antoinette reached over and stroked the girls cheek. Her own gentle gesture surprised herself as much as it surprised the girl. Antoinettes gentleness has died with her husband years ago, but her ached with pity for the girl in front of her.
We can put it to rent, but you continue to own it, but we must sell a lot of your things, these money will of cause be put on an account for your use, when you turn eighteen.
Christine just stared at the woman with her mouth open in a silly fashion.
Err that sounds reasonably Christine said confused, and Antoinette had to hide a smile.
Is there something you know, you want to keep?
Fathers violin and mothers swan necklace
All right, but we will go trough the house later, but for now you have to go to bed Christine
Yes Madame Giry Christine said and walked upstairs with a quick smile for Antoinette.
Antoinette sat in deep thoughts. She had educated herself to be a ballet dancer together with Christines mother. They had been the best of friends. The day Gustav came into their live, they had also been rivals. Gustav had chosen Elsa, and Antoinette met her husband two years later resulting in her darling daughter Meg.
She sighed heavily and slowly made her way to the guestroom, what would time bring with the daughter of two such talents under her wings?

chapter 3 - A new home
The carriage halted in front of the pompous building. Antoinette stepped outside with all the grace of a long trained dancer, Christine practically felt out of the carriage like a clumsy puppy. Antoinette smiled at her.
Christine opened her eyes in awe, the golden building shone in the afternoon light. This was going to be her home. This glorious building filled with song, music and dance.
Come along Christine, dont just stand there Antoinette said sharply, and Christine hurriedly gathered her skirts and ran after Antoinette.
The hall was wonderful, white marble floors and golden walls.
Mama a cry of joy sounded at the top of the stairs, and a girl with golden hair threw herself into the arms of Antoinette.
Meg my little darling Antoinette said and ruffled her daughters hair.
Christine stood stiffly beside the older woman; she tried to fight back the tears that had formed in her eyes. She missed her father so much, to cuddle herself into his strong arms, and touch the calloused skin of his chin.
Are you Christine? Meg asked and looked at her curiously.
Yes Im Christine she replied.
Meg threw her arms around the girl. Ive been so much looking forward to see you Christine, now mother is your guardian, we will be just like sisters.
Christine couldnt help smiling and hugged Meg back. It was impossible not to be affected by the other girls jolliness.
Meg I trust that you can show Christine where shes going to sleep. And show her around in the rest of the opera house.
Of cause mother Meg said and grabbed Christines arm. Come Christine, Ill show you everything there is to see and tell you everything there is to know.
She dragged the other slightly befuddled girl with her up the stairs and deep into the opera houses corridors. The corridors of the actors, chorus girls, dancers and singers were a labyrinth full of song, laughter, music and colourful costumes. Christine was deeply fascinated and stared with huge eyes on everything until they finally reached the dormitories of the youngest girls.
Youre going to have the bed next to mine Meg said, and helped Christine with her baggage.
Come on Im going to show you around Meg said with a smile and dragged the other girl with her out of the room again.
After showing her around in the opera house, Christine was completely befuddled.
How does a person ever lean to walk around in this place without getting lost?
Meg just laughed Youll get used to it quickly.
I seriously doubt that Christine muttered under her breath. She drew a yawn and rubbed her cheek sleepily.
Oh Im sorry Christine, you are of cause tired after your journey, Im so inconsiderate, Ill lead you back to our dormitories Meg said worriedly and dragged her new friend with her.
All of a sudden Christine heard something, a faint ghostly melody of magnificent beauty. She grabbed Megs arm
Listen Meg, can you hear something?
Meg stared around bewildered, and then her face turned exited.
Its the phantom of the opera, it must be
What phantom Christine asked confused.
Shh Christine, Ive never heard him before, but it must be him. Come along we must follow the music
Highly confused Christine followed the other very eager girl, the ghostly tunes became louder and finally they reached an abandoned dressing room. The music stopped, and the room was empty.
Oh Meg said very disappointed.
What is all this about? Christine asked with her hands in her sides.
Ill tell you when we get back to the dormitory, mother will kill us if were not back before the lights are turned off.
And again Christine was lead trough the labyrinths of the opera house. They finally reached the dormitory, and Christine fell to her bed completely exhausted.
The room was filled with girls at their age all of them getting ready to bed. Christine and Meg quickly undressed and crept to bed.
Now what is this phantom thing then? Christine asked curiously.
Its the phantom of the opera, hes a legend in here Meg said.
The phantom of the opera?
Yes, hes a ghost that haunts the opera. Sometimes you can hear him play, like we did tonight. He causes all sorts of accidents in the opera.
Christine shivered with delight; she and Raoul had often told each others ghost stories in the dark attic at her house or in some of the abandoned rooms of the Chagny estate.
Really? Christine asked.
Oh yes, he makes thing fall down and leaves strange notes in monsieur Lefevres office
Girls, I turn of the lights now Madame Girys voice sounded.
The lights were turned of and Meg carefully lifted her head to tell Christine more of the phantom, but saw that Christine was already asleep. With a smile she lay down to sleep.
