The Phantom

Have any of you tried to come up with Phantom themed costumes? I made one for a party I went to and it was supposed to be a Masquerade dancer. I ended up being like... a Erik/Raoul/Masquerade dancer so it went horribly wrong. On the other hand, one of my good friends made a similar costume to that of ChristineÂ’s in Point of No Return of the new 2004 movie. It looks really good but her leather corset kept coming untied! Lol.

I haven't been to a Phantom party where we've dressed up as the characters, but I'm sure Lai & I will get round to it someday :D I have a white half mask (it looks kinda odd because of the eye holes and nose holes are rather big) from a jokeshop. My older sis has a big black cloak (it's really a Nazgul (LOTR) cloak) so basically, if I wore black clothes + mask + cloak, I'd be a perfect Phantom!

I have a question -- for those of you who have seen Christine's "All I Ask of You" costume in the stage show: is it mostly pink or purple? I can't seem to decide, even with close-up pictures. I plan on making a simplified version of it, you see.

I want to make a masquerade costume for halloween this year. I found the perfect mask at the dollarstore. Now, I just need ideas for the dress. I would love to make Christine's PONR dress.

Zelda: I always thought is was more purple, but you can't see it much anyway with that voluminous cloak.
I haven't ever made any of the costumes, but last night a friend emailed me to say that she had made the Point of No Return dress, and the Mirror/PotO/MotN/STYDI dress.

I wanted to be Christine in PoNR, but then I realized how hard it would be to make that... I'm not good at sewing. plus, my shoulders are ugly, so that type of dress wouldn't work. I might still make it though, just for fun.

I have already bought my ahlloween costume for this year. I know, I know...it's still August...but it was at wal-mart, and I saw it and I had to buy it.
It was called "The Phantom" and it came with a mask, but I already have a mask. and it came with a cape, and a top. The top is black, with white sleeves and kinda puffy at the end. The chest has white ribbon criss-crossing up the chest. The mask that came with it is not as comfortable as my mask, so therefore I will not be wearing it. All I need now is a hat, and I'm set! Well...I will need to get a tux as well...but I guess I'll cross that bridge when I come to it. I will try to post pictures when I can of it.
I can't wait for halloween now!

I want to be Christine for Halloween, but I still haven't planned the whole costume yet. Halloween costumes are a big deal for me. A lot of careful and meticulous planning. If anyone has any ideas let me know.

I'm going as Erik once again! This time, I'll be making a reusable "deformity" using three latex bald caps. (I got the idea from someone on PFN.) One will be cut and painted, and will go on the right side of my face. The other two will be layerd on top of my head, and the outer layer will be cut in certain places to make it look as if my skull is cracked. I'll wear my black fedora over it, and maybe a wig or toupée if I can find one that's not too expensive. The outfit won't be a problem; I still have my fedora, mask, and cape from last Halloween (I'll make a few adjustments to the mask), and I'm getting a tuxedo for band concerts sometime in the next three weeks.
I picked up a really interesting idea for the mask. Apparently, in the Hungarian production of the ALW stage show, they have small magnets built into the deformity and attached to the mask, so they won't have to use wires or spirit gum. I think I may try that; it seems very intriguing, and I won't have to worry about accidentally ruining my deformity each time I remove the mask. :mask:

Wow, you have thought that through! You must have a lot of spare time! I think Iwant to be PONR Christine if I dress up.

Oh, that's what I want to be...PONR Christine, from the play of course. I think that is one of the prettiest dresses on the stage...and it's my favorite. But I don't think I would actually have the time to make it. I really want that as my costume.
I was looking through one of these pattern book at Joanns, and I think it was Simplicity, well anyways, I was looking at the costumes after I found the dress I really wanted for homecoming. Well, they have the costume of Christine's masqurade gown, from the movie verison. I told my mom I wanted that, but I wouldn't know how to sit down in a dress like that at school, so I decided no. They have the Phantom's costume also, the tux and stuff...yeah...

I'm trying to decide which of Christine's costumes I want to try. I'm probably going to go with that beautiful blue bustle gown.

Aye. Last Halloween, I procrastinated and ended up having to create my outfit in the final week before Oct. 31. I definitely want to avoid making that mistake again, so I'm starting early this time. All I need to do now is get the three bald caps and design them, and then try to find an inexpensive wig. It appears that everything else is taken care of. :D

I've decided to make the TOM dress from the movie, and the WYWSHA and wedding dresses from the musical. I've got patterns, so watch me go! Heh.
Just thought I'd share.

Wow your costumes all sound so awesome! ::stares in jealousy:: Wish i were craftier...I'd definently make the PONR dress. It is the best costume, in my opinion! Although, I would love to find a cape and dress similar to the rooftop scene!

I saw someone sellling dead on Christine masquerade dresses on ebay...and I wanted to buy one (they were probably too expensive anyway) but they're gone now. :(
They have a lot of knock off PONR dresses too...but not really as close to the real thing as I wish they were.
Wow! I've been looking everywhere for PONR dresses! Or, at least, the materiel to make one!
I'm so jealouse, Hillary! :D

PONR have the best costumes in the movie I think, but I am rather impressed with Red Death as well. If anyone is looking, they are selling a cool replica of Red Death on Ebay.
In terms of costumes, I have all three masks from the movie, and I tried to find a white shirt for Erik. I found one but it is no where near as good as the one in the flim, but it is entirely believeable. Now all I need is a black dress coat to cover the white shirt, a cloak and I'll be set for Don Juan.
Any ideas where I can pick one up?

I am going as Erik too, although I am a girl. That won't stop me!!! I have a mask and a cape, and I am looking for a fedora that's inexpensive, and I have to find an outfit. I wish I could be red death phantom, but I have no mask for that. *sigh*
There's always next year though......

I remember that when I was like 8 years old... my mom made my dad dress up like Erik. He had a mask and cape and everything! I must have inherited my phantom loving trait from my mother... only it got like.... magnified in me. But yeah... it was so awesome. But at the time (I had never seen it yet) I thought my mom was way too obsessed with Phantom. Well... now look at me!

I would love for a Christine costume, but I don't dress up anymore on Halloween. Usually, I just end up staying at home to help give out candy, lol.

Oh, Rebecca, that's so sad ^_^ I always go out trick-or-treating, and I'm 17. Yes, people look at me funny, but I don't care. I was a Pirate last year, but this year I'm gonna try to go as Christine. I would like to go as either MOTN or Masquerade!Chrissy, but this is just wishful thinking. I haven't started to even plan my costume, much less look around for materials.
::sniff::
I wish I were going out this year! But I can't, because "It's a new city full of sick-o's!" according to my mom. Then why did we move here in the first place???
I, sadly, will be handing out candy.....not enough time to get POTO costume for me, the Queen of Procrastination.
But for anyone who cares, maybe someone would like to dress as the Red Death? They could even sew words in gold, "Don't touch me! I am Red Death stalking abroad." on a cape....and maybe get a giant feather?

Hey, for Halloween I was the phantom! Well, actually I was kind of a fitfies girl, but hey! I still wore the mask, and people kept asking me what the mask was from, and I was like,"Haven't you ever seen the phantom of the opera?" Oh, well. A lot of people don't know of the master piece

I'm so jealous of you people! >_< A few years ago, I'd wanted to dress as a made up Phantom character I called the Lady Phantom (so termed because she was Erik's female counterpart) for a haunted hayride I volunteered for in the town where my old high school was located. I borrowed a dress from a friend of mine, and I got a cape the night of the event, but I wasn't able to get a mask. So I had my face done up with make-up, with one half of my face painted white; they told me it was too light against my skin (I have very fair skin and even I found it didn't look right), so they covered the other half of my face with black make-up.
I looked more like sort of a harlequin (or one of the masqueraders from the movie version) because my face was literally split down the middle in black and white. I made do, anyway. >_<;;

I have a dress from prom that is pink and kind of reminds me of Christine's dress in Masquerade. However, it's not nearly as gorgeous as the one in the movie. I think I may where it one day! I'm just waiting for someone to throw a masquerade party! Or if I just feel like dressing up for the heck of it.
Well...I didn't necessarily made one before, but one of my friends, she's going to be my suitemate this year, she has a rock name Ted and she made him a Phantom constume. It was so cute. You guys can see it: here (http://myspace-276.vo.llnwd.net/00346/67/28/346808276_l.jpg).

Two of my friends and I are going as POTO characters for Halloween. I'm going to be Christine, my friend Amanda is going to be Carlotta (lol she's a diva :) ) and my friend Tyler is going to be Erik. I'm not sure where to get a dress though. I'm thinkin the Think of Me dress or the Masquerade dress. Any ideas?

My boyfriend and I are going as Erik and Christine for Halloween. My grandma is making my dress. I'm going as Don Juan!Christine and Josh is going as Red Death!Phantom. So we'll be a veery veery smexy couple.
Emily, just get whatever you can afford. I like Think of Me, and all you have to do is get a white dress and put stars on it. It would probably be harder to get the Masquerade dress.

There is an AMAZING costume rental shop about 45 min. away from where we live, and so I'm gonna see if they have any great victorian stuff. I've decided to find something like the blue dress in the stage production. T'would be WAAAAY easier!

My boyfriend (2LT_Gates) and I are going as Erik and Christine this year. Josh is gonna be the Red Death and I'm PONR Christine. I'm just hoping my grandma can hurry up and start on my dress!
And Kelly, if you want something easy, you can do PONR Christine. What we're doing is sewing some lace to my white tank top and making a simple skirt and a simple corset. It seems fairly simple so far.

Me? Well, I managed to obtain a really cool Phantom mask! So, while I never go trick-or-treating or anything like that, it's my own little tradition to put on my mask and a cape. I'm now trying to convince my crush to spend next Halloween as the Phantom and me as Christine, but I don't know if I could hand over the mask...

My friend went as the Phantom last year. This year my sister and I are going as Meg and Christine. She's going as Meg from PoNR. If I can't find more than just the Christine PoNR shirt, I'm going as a masquerade person...

I'm hoping to go as something resembling Christine... I have dark brown hair that's naturally curly, and by October it'll be at my shoulder blades... although, it looks like shiny copper pennies in the sun... and I have brown eyes. So I can't go as Leroux!Christine, but whatever.
I'd rather go as Erik... but that would take alot of artistic skills... which I do not have.
Although, my little sister looks very similar to Leroux!Christine- extremely curly blonde hair, blue eyes... she's not delicate, though- she has a broader build... and she's only 6 years old... but I think I could probably fix her up...

I only have the dressing robe used after TOM, stage version style. My guyfriend had that made by his seamstress. I leave it at his place and wear it sometimes in the morning or after showers.
It'd be cool to make the Wishing blue dress from the stage version with the cloak. I always found that to be so pretty! The wedding dress from the stage version as well is really nice too. :)

I don't know who all's read my introduction post, but I've made a stage version Wishing Gown. I sort of mixed different versions of the stage version (does that make sense?) and wore it to the show this past January. I love that dress. *sigh*

I WAS going to dress up as the Phantom (or, rather, "Phantomess") of the Opera, seeing as I'm a girl for my younger stepsister's Halloween party last year. Well, I found a good half-mask and cape at a store in Tulsa and then, after I'd bought it, I found out she wasn't having it! Nowadays, I just use it for acting out the movie and things like that. Oh, well, there's always this year.

Very nice improvs on the costume Eyvette. You seem to be quite talented in that area. Brava!
Last Halloween I made my little one a costume that was supposed to be a younger more innocent replica of the PONR dress in the movie. She had wanted to go as Christine in the pink ballgown from the Masquerade scene but that dress proved much to hard to sew! However she insisted on going as Christine (she loves the 04 movie) so here she is a much younger Aminta!
Hmm..my attachment doesn't seem to be working. I have uploaded the image to my profile so if anyone is interested they can check out her costume there!
