Shattered Glass

part 1

The neighborhood was once a quiet place, nothing much happened there. If one were to ask the residence they would say that they were content to live in a calm tranquility... that was true until Maxxie moved in. This girl was odd, beyond their dull imaginations. This girl was no beauty mind you, a rust color hair that layed in a frizzled mess to her shoulder blades. Not curls mind you, but a friz. That hair somehow managed to make her heart shapped face round, making her grey eyes seem so much smaller. Short as she was, she could easily sneak up on you. They would be having a nice conversation about a neighborhood block party and there she would be suddenly, with odds ideas of games, decorations, and odd little snacks for the kids. But they could out up with her, that is.. until Erik and Jareth. Maxxie was just of legal age, and she ended up living with two guys that seemed to be old enough to be her father..s... they didn't even see them move in.

It had been a stormy night. The wind wipped leaves against the neat little town homes. Torn up gardens within minutes. And there were strange lights coming from Maxxie's house. What they didn't know is what was happening. But inside that place that looked so well at home there in the neighborhood was that its' resident oddball Maxxie was sitting in the palor with candles out in front of her. The windows flew open as she gave a horrified shreek. Her eyes widened in panic. This wasn't what she wanted. The candles that were once in a circle around her started to blow out. pages of books that had been strewn around her flew now in the air. Closing her eyes she slammed her hands over her ears, wishing for it to end. Then suddenly out of the odd blue necklace she wore came a sickening crack, a light that challenged any man made light sailed through the air, bouncing off the walls like a over excited bouncy ball until it hit, her book shelf. A few books, movies, and papers fell off and started to collide with the rest of the chaos. Maxxie knelt down, curling into a small ball. Tears streamed down her face as she shook in fear. She didn't think this would happen. But what even more unexpected was when the noise stopped. Maxxie would raise her head, not wanting to see the mess she was destined to clean alone. When a hand fell upon her shoulder.

Maxxie looked up, expecting to see cops standing there, wanted to know the disturbance. Her neighbors had been waiting for a time to get rid of her. But instead attached to that hand was an arm... attached to a well distinguishable man with black hair, a dress suit, and a well known mask that covered three-fourths his face. His mixmatched eyes behind the mask were confused and dazed at the turn of events. Behind him stood a also well known character to Maxxie. With a wild cousin of a sandy blond bullet stood a man with also mixmatched eyes, wearing the tightest clothes one as ever seen; also confused. Above them the light hovered until from it flowed many different and odd sounds that seemed to be languages from all over the world. But Maxxie only understood it when in english it said, "they can only go home when they do not need."

Fear mixed with excitment at the prospect of having her favorite fiction characters living with her. Along with disbelief that it was happening, and a confusment and anger as she shouted at the thing, "What does that mean?!?!"
