Has anyone seen the Lion King on Boardway or any kind of theater? I heard that it was really good. I haven't seen it though, I'm going to go see it for my graduation present. Have any of you seen it?

I have unfortunately not seen it either. I did listen to the cast recording CD, though, and enjoyed it immensely. :D I especially liked "Shadowlands," and the other songs that weren't in the animated movie. I really want to see it live on stage... but if it came down to a choice between Lion King and Phantom.. I'd probably pick POTO.

Um..... i saw the cartoon movie. I'm a fan of the little kid movies. I watch them too much to be healthy for any teenage girl, but that's okay. Blame it on my little sister. ;)

Last time I was in New York my group was looking into getting tickets to go see The Lion King, since many people wanted to go see it anyway. But when we found out the ticket prices we changed our minds... at the time, it was like $100 dollars for any sort of ticket to the show. I wouldn't mind seeing it on Broadway, but I might wait until I have more money. ;)

The costumes from Lion King is what's so speacial. And the way that the actors hnadles their costume. They try to make it seem like the animal that they are portraying. Definitely see it.

Yes it is! The Lion King is a Broadway production! Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice work very closly together and to Broadway.

One of the touring productions is here in Hawaii... I saw the show a couple weeks ago, and it was amazing. I was simply astounded at all the effects they were able to do. All the performers were very good, as well -- Adult Simba and Nala had extremely powerful voices; I think they could have easily done the show without the radio mics. Zazu was brilliant, simply put. Timon sounded so much like Nathan Lane, it was scary. XD My only 'complaint' would have to be that Mufasa's voice, while pleasant, wasn't very powerful. We could hardly hear him in "They Live In You." His acting, however, was quite good.
And Kevin Gray as Scar . . . oh man. ^_^ He was just so fantastically evil. In terms of voice and acting, I thought he was far better than John Vickery (who played the role in the original Broadway cast). I got to meet him after the show, and he was super-nice. Unfortunately, I had forgotten to bring a camera. I tried to take a pic of us with my cell phone, but since it had no flash, the picture didn't come out. Ah, well... one more reason to go see it again! :D My college is offering student discounts for tickets, so I think I'll be going sometime in the next couple weeks.

I saw this on Broadway when I was ten. it was amazing. Trust me the most spectacular thing on the world! The way the actors and actresses portray their animal is absolutely beautiful. It brought tears to my eyes. I love animals. I have a friends that loved animals more than you could ever expect. He saw this and it's his favorite Broadway--it was the only one he saw! He's gone, but he takes care for all of the animals of the world in heaven! Well when you get back after watching the show. It's so good, next to Phantom in Las Vegas! That was beautiful as well, but this was the best Broadway musical ever!

This has always been my fave animated disney movie of all time, but I've never seen it live! The closest I've gotten is the "Circle of Life" opening performance at the Tonys this year and that just made me want to see it more. On the bus ride home from Phantom, we were talking about Lion King maybe being the show we go to next year, so I hope that pans out.

I saw The Lion King live. It was my first Live Broadway show. And I adored it. The character's enter in through the back doors and they go down the aisle. AND ALL THOSE COLORS! I honestly thought that there were real gazelles and meerkats and lions on that stage. it was beautiful.

My friends from school are a bit too closed minded to understand how amazing this show is. One they can see that the way they intended to portray the characters were with an African vibe and African trace to them as well. They can see that the character of Timon would not look right if a guy dressed in a suit as he tried to be a friend of a lion. I think it's genius, but they don't think so, but they think it's just plain old terrible so they can forget their minds and forget the exact point of Lion King on Broadway, not to make everything exactly the same, but to make it seem theatre-friendly which is what they nailed exactly. Nailing that nail in one blow is what they did! so oh yea I give them all my love LOL

I saw it February 20, 2005 when it was still at The New Amsterdam Theater. It was an extrodinary expirience! I'll never forget it! The One by One scene is breathtaking. They really interact with the audience! I wonder how the Minskoff Theater looks.

I saw this show with my dance and drama classes at school and at the time I didn't really think much of it I think it's because I very much come to know a story one way and hate it when people mess around with it. Looking back on it though it was a wonderful show the singing, the dancing and the way it was written I remember that when they came down the side ways that my friend freaked and it made me laugh so hard. The masks on the lions where amazing the time and work that must of gone into them. I think if I saw it again my jaw would be hanging...
I wonder if they'll follow the movie and do a Lion King 2 and 3???

Just as a child, more or less a baby, I heard this music in the car. The disney version and Sir Elton John's version were blasting through my mom's car opposed to Celtic Women. And now after seeing it (years ago) it still is my favorite Disney Broadway, even more than Little Mermaid and that's by alot!

Oh I so want to see the Broadway version of The Little Mermaid.
I to was brought up listening to the CD of the Disney Version it was the first Disney CD I ever owned.
I always wondered what the part in the opening song not in English meant though. (though now I know)
I wonder just how long it took to make those masks and puppets I so want the little cub.

When I saw Lion King I really loved the actors not only being able to recreate the voices of the character, but being able to work the puppets and have them move EXACTLY like the actually character's physicality! it was sooo beautiful!
Nala, Heather Headley, is amazing and I loved her performance to death. She has this strong voice that grabs attention. Simba, ________ Hannah, was such a close comparison to the real Simba's voice and of course they have to have Mufasa's voice closer than possible! And when I saw it they nailed it. I was scared from the moment he roared (but that was the only thing that disappointed--it was basically then roaring, but there was an echo effect) to the moment he died I was shocked and in amazement! As for young Nala...slightly disappointed, I believe she was originally from Africa, but I didn't like the way she took the character somewhere that wasn't exactly 'Nala'. Young Simba was adorable, but when his voice was in puberty....*wishy-washy* I wasn't so sure....

I never got to see the Broadway show (we didn't have time), but the movie was one of my absolute favorite things as a child. Childhood nostalgia is oftentimes next to impossible for me to explain. I used to listen to the soundtrack in my mom's car. I still have a whole bunch of my old Disney toys in a couple boxes in my basement.

If you have the chance go google pictures of the costumes in-the-making. They are absolutely beautiful! The artistic handy work is something that really brings out Africa to the stage. The earth tones keep everything calm and cool at the right time. The only costumes that I question is Timon's. Perhaps the actor is green because of the jungle 'feel', but it does not work during the final lion/hyena scene. But eventually the imaginations blocks that from sight. The extra music that was written for this was very fitting and it seemed like it could feature in a remake of the movie. Endless Nights is just something that is Simba in heart and soul. The Madness of King Scar makes me laugh; Zazu makes wonderful comic relief as well as a doe-doe bird.

I saw this in 2007 - i think - in London and it was FANTASTIQUE I was really fortunate and got front-center seats in the royal circle :spin2:
I thought the stampede scene was wonderful;i think the highlight was either that or the giraffes (yes I am easily amused)

Ahh I loved the stampede scene!!! At that point of my acting life I was looking for any tricks that they used. I saw glow in the dark tape so that young simba could find the back door since he's unfamiliar with the theater. I later heard that he had to put it down himself. Independence CHECK.
I loved my foot row seats!!

I've never seen the stage show but it looks like would be amazing. I grew up listening to the music and I love the story line. Hey, anything that says on Broadway that long and comes from a crappy company like Disney has to be good.
I've seen pictures of the costumes and they really interest me. They all look very tribal African.

I tell you the soundtrack and the Disney movie they are practically the same with only a few extra songs. it's really good, and the costumes are amazing!!!
I cried when the curtain closed for intermission. I wanted to see more!

Haha, that good, huh? Well I guess crying is a sign that the show is either really good or really bad.
Anyway, I've listened to the song(s) added into the Lion King sequel and I thought that they were pretty good but I like the original score better (don't I always?). Were any of the songs added from the Broadway production?

Hey if my dad cries, it is amazing! Well at least he thought and he's probably so opinionated that well it makes my teachers look like bugs bunny...ahahha Awkward!

Wow, random much? Bugs Bunny is an intersting way to describe someone...
Anyway, if it can make a grown man cry, it must be worth something. Another question: in what place does the 1st Act end?

Hakuna Matata. It was a great place to end. I was wondering that when I sat down at the theater. I personally loved it and my dad at that point, had an awkward relationship with my brother so it mended things great!
