I only just started getting into Manga...I'm friends with all the weirdo art Anime sorts of people, and they've been trying to get me to read it...

My friend Ginger lent me Hot Gimmick, and I can't put it down! It's so addicting...I'm on Volume 6, and I only just started reading the series two days ago.

I like reading mangas a lot more than I do regular comic books. I've been reading them since 2001 or so...

My favorite manga artist is Yu Watase. I love her to pieces! ^___^ Her series are 'Fushigi Yugi', 'Ceres: Celestial Legend/Ayashi no Ceres', 'Imadoki!', 'Alice 19th', etc. You really should read her stuff. Really sweet, and the artwork is just beautiful.

I also like Kaori Yuki... Very mature artist, with complicated storylines, and art. 'Angel Sanctuary' is my favorite of hers.

I like a lot of series, though, mind you. =o

i have never tried to read manga, would you reccomend it?

Indeed, I very highly recommend manga! I've been reading it since about 2003, and I'm addicted. I've read most of Mars, 3 out of 4 Brain Powered, I'm on book 5 of Ragnarok, and I own up to book 6 of Demon Diary. Oh, and I've read the first book in Vampire Game.

Most recently, I bought and read book 1 in the relatively new Legal Drug series. It's probably the most mature manga I've read yet, and I'd love to read more of it. :D It really is fantastic so far - and, not to sound creepy, but there's something sexy about two hot manga boys in chains and ropes at the storyline partition pages, or whatever you call those pages. :tongue: In any case, this book served as more of an introduction to the characters than as an actual story. I can't wait to get book 2 and actually get into the plotline! :D I highly recommend it to anyone who doesn't mind... "erotic" manga. ;)

Whoa! Can't believe I forgot CLAMP... They're like, one of the most famous manga groups in existence. Their stories vary a lot, but all are good. I haven't gotten to read 'Legal Drug' yet, though. ;-;

Has anyone read 'Wish'? It's a short series, with only four books, but it's one of my favorites. It's one of the few that I've cried in it while reading. XD

::Random outburst:: MNEH!!!

Okay, for those of you who don't know, my penname on ff.net is Bondaged Vampiresa. I have this thing about...what you mentioned in your post. Here's the story about my username:

I was watching this vampire movie with a friend of mine. I love vampires, just to let everybody know. :) Anywho, there's this one scene where this really hot guy is taken prisoner by the vampires and is tied up in the attic. I turn to said friend and go, "Wow...that is some sexy stuff right there."

"KT...the guy is tied to a chair."

"I know...that's what takes it from the 'hot' level to the 'sexy' level." She just looked at me strangely and went back to the movie.

Yup...there's my explanation. Sort of random, but... Yeah. :D

I so agree. XD

By the way, speaking of yaoi, has anyone read 'Gravitation' or 'Yami no Matsuei'? I've read some of the former, but I haven't been able to find Yami. I really want to. T__T;

Oh, and a good manga site is:

Yay! I am not alone in my mental instability! :D

That's not an insult, Sadako. It's actually a compliment. :)

Thanks for the link!

I'm interested in Gravitation, but I want to finish reading the series I'm already in the middle of before I start another new one. :tongue: I've never heard of that second one though. o.0

And we already know what I think on that topic. ;) Shackles, chains, ropes, torture... *ahem* I do believe the discussion is becoming inappropriate - not to mention off topic. :tongue:

Yes...we must remember to keep it PG-13 in here, max. ;)

ANYWHO...

Thanks for the link, Sadako! I shall check that out right this very moment.

Ah...! I just found out that Yami no Matsuei is really being called 'Descendants of Darkness' in the US. (Why change the title? D:)

Books-a-Million link to the first volume... (http://www.booksamillion.com/ncom/books?id=3191368634384&isbn=1591165075)

And the only bad thing about that site is the downloading thing... It often tells you that you have to wait because of server overload. I only find it good for sampling. :duck: Check out 'Angel Sanctuary' and stuff, though. I think the crowd here would be the type to lick it all up. ;D (Never watch the anime of it, however. You will cry at what they did to her beautiful artwork... ;_;

By the way, have you all heard about 'Shojo Beat'? It's a magazine, similar to 'Shonen Jump', but has... Well, shojo in it. Fortunately, in a way, my 'Animerica' subscription switched over to it. So far, I have the preview and the first issue. I highly recommend the series in it. =)

The only manga series I'm properly collecting/reading is Fullmetal Alchemist, only because I'm obsessed with the anime. [I'm weird.] For FMA, I buy the mandarin-translated versions and still have problems reading. my mandarin sucks. Besides FMA, the rest of the manga I read are the scanlations.

What I've read:
Full Moon wo Saga****e
+Anima
D.Grey Man
Erementar Gerad
Loveless
Fullmetal Alchemist

But I am IN LOVE with Fruits Basket.

I bought about 20 Dragonball Z manga books while I was in Japan about 4 years ago. They rule! I can't read Japanese, but I've watched enough of the anime series to know what goes on and the pictures give me a general idea anyway.

I love Fruits Basket too! I saw some manga books in english a few weeks ago but I didn't buy them, I'd rather buy the anime episodes. :P

...Manga in English is quite common. At least, in the U.S. At least, in this section of it. Barnes & Noble almost always has a section pretty much full of them.

...but, yeah.

Haha, yeah, the Brentanos at the mall here has almost half the store dedicated to manga. XD It's so much fun to walk in there and have all those options available. ^_^

Well when I was younger I was like into Manga so much that I had to stop reading it before my mom lost all her money and I barely remember half the things I read but here is a list:

Chobits (I love it)
Rayearth
Angelic Layer
X-1999
Angel Nine
Sailor Moon
Naruto

That sucks... I can see why you had problems getting it, though, with it costing $10 for one volume. A lot of series have over 20 that you need to get. O_o

I really should read Angelic Layer sometime. I haven't yet because the B-a-M near me doesn't have the first one. -_-

What Manga do you guys recommend... all my friends are into it so I think I might give it a try. Not too hot on the Anime(sp?) tho, it drives me mad

I highly recommend Legal Drug if you're into the more mature stuff. :D If you prefer romance, Mars all the way. It's an excellent series too, though far longer than Legal Drug. Demon Diary and Ragnarok are great if you like fantasy. :)

Well, my friend Judy recently... well... she basically forced me to start reading Manga. And honestly, she's starting get me hooked, since I hook on things easily. So she took advantage of that and lent me the first in the Hana-Kimi series (there's a really long Japanese name for it that I just can't think of right now). It's good, a bit silly, but I enjoy it.

It's so expensive though, so I'm waiting until after Christmas to start buying them. I generally get money and such for Christmas, so I'm hoping to have enough to get a bunch of the ones from Barnes and Noble after Christmas.

She's also been hinting at lending me Fruits Basket. It sounds pretty good, but I've only heard her opinion. Is it worth it?

Where do I start with manga/yaoi?!

My favorites include "Wolf's Rain", "Tarot Cafe", "Until the Glass Moon", "Fake", "Eerie Queerie", "Demon Diary" and "One Thousand and One Nights".

I've been into anime/manga for about 15 years, starting with seeing "Nausicaa..." on HBO. Of course, we were watching "Speed Racer" long, long ago, thinking it was just another cartoon. Before calling it anime, they referred to it as Japanimation. Then, at long last, I found out about manga.

Manga is AMAZING, and I keep finding more and more I would love to have. The $10 per is an ouchie, so I choose very carefully. My manga source is Waldenbooks. When I can get to the hour-away one in Terre Haute, Indiana, I'm agonizingly blissed out because there are so many to choose from and so little money. *SIGH*

Ack! A manga thread! XD I'm so happy about it I just completely forgot what I was going to say XD

Well anyway I have lots of anime manga I'm into, most of what Cyn put down and others too, though right now I'm trying to get all of 'Legal Drug' and finishing off the rest of my 'Gravitation' collection XD.

Though I must say my favorite is 'Petshop of Horrors'

I have been a fan of anime AND manga since I was 4! I swear! My room is competely filled with anime and manga and everything Japanese (for I adore Japan mostly for its culture and honestly as long as the mythology of Japan lingered on this earth I wouldn't care if anime or manga did not exist)!

My favorites are Bleach, Gunslinger Girl, Higurashi - When They Cry, Death Note, Elemental Gelade, and Blood +. Though my manga list goes on forever!

I also draw alot of this style of asian art--quite interesting to draw though the eyes and everything from the shoulders down irritates me so often I nearly break the pencil. xD
