Okay I just saw the musical and I was beautiful!!! I loved it! It was so sad and happy and completely motherly. A completely worth seeing show! I love both, Phantom of the Opera and Miss Saigon!

I have never seen such a blank form!!! People I know that one person has heard of Miss. Saigon! I know it! Here a scenario of it! SPOILER I know!!

It's about a girl, 17 years old, Kim. She was to be married to her cousin who is the general of Vietnam's Army--or something like that!

She decided to run off at this desperate time of need and she has to do the best thing for her life...become a protitute!

She was very shy. So the boss made her sleep with a guy named Chris. He was very young about 21 at the time. It was very erm, 'connectionish' between them. They both fell in love and then married (by Vietman's traditions for a marriage). So technically it was offical, but it was good enough for them both!

The war broke out!!! Chris had to leave, the problem was he couldn't find Kim, b/c he was planning on bringing her back to the states. So she couldn't get on the copter! (in Broadway's--this was a VA company theatre--they had a real helicopter!!!!)

Three years later!!!!

Kim's cousin finds her after those years that she ran away! He finds that she has a child as he tries to force her to marry him. But she declares that she's still married to Chris. Her cousin forces her to marry him by threathening the life of Tom--her child. Just as her cousin was to stab Tom in the back with a razor, Kim shot him with a gun!!!! Thus, leading to the death of her cousin!

Meanwhile. . .

Chris has lately been having dreams of Kim, while in bed with his new wife Ellen!!!!

what happens after this lot? You buzz in with me and ask to spoil it!!!!

P.S.:
Here are some youtube.com links to heard some of the music!!!

~Lea's auditions--I love how she can just pick a song up with very few mistakes! She was only stopped twice!

This one is Lea and Simon singing Sun and Moon. So beautiful!!! Their kisses were just oh so passionate! It made me almost cry!

This is the song, The Movie In My Mind. Gigi is that night's Miss Saigon and she's basically saying, "This f**king life s**ks!!!!" I don't suggest this for viewers younger than 13. There is loads of explict content in the entire show! Especially language! It's very sad. Those women that were selling themselves usually don't have a choice back them with those times. It's just heartbreaking! So you guess tell me what you think! ONE MORE!!!

Completely heart smashing! *tear*

I've only heard a few songs from Miss Saigon, but I'm definitely interested in buying a full recording. I'm in a bit of a quandary, though -- the original London cast album has Lea Salonga as Kim and Jonathan Pryce as the Engineer, and I'm a huge fan of both of them. (Lea is here in Hawaii to give a concert over the weekend! :D)

However, the Complete Symphonic Recording has Kevin Gray (who I got to see as Scar in The Lion King) as the Engineer, and if it's anything like the Complete Symphonic Recording of Les Misérables, it would probably have a lot more of the music from the show. I'll probably end up getting both, but which do you think I should buy first?

I saw a VA performance here, but my parents say the NYC version is soooo much better...I can only imagine! But the sad thing is I didn't cry!!!! What's the matter with me? Well actually only two things have made me cry before, and that's my book (I'm a sucker for that!) and Phantom in Vegas. so what's there to say?

Is the song "I'm going to like it here" really in here? I read somewhere that it was. I've never seen this musical or even heard anything from it. I've just heard that this song was it and that it was very good.

Honestly? Jonathan Pryce? Like Juan from Evita? No, you have GOT to be kidding me! I love him!

Aye, that's the one! He was also, I believe, the original Guido in the musical Nine, written by Maury Yeston and Arthur Kopit (the same two who wrote the newest of the 3 best-known POTO musicals). And all you fans of the Pirates of the Caribbean films likely know him as Elizabeth's father, Governor Weatherby Swann. ^_^

YouTube has some clips of him in the role, including this one, (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wf8YUHDeqwg) from a performance of "The American Dream" at the Tony Awards, the year that MS was nominated. :D

I remember Pryce's performance as The Engineer on the Tony Awards. And his little move with the hood of the car!

I sort of forgot him for a while until I saw him in a bit part in the film "The Age of Innocence" with Daniel Day Lewis.

Is the song "I'm going to like it here" really in here?

To answer that question if no one has, no, it's not here. Unless you've heard a different title, because people do confuse that. LOL I always do. XD

A friend gave me a copy of the original London CDs . . . I absolutely adore the music and story, and Lea is (of course) amazing. ^_^ One of the local theatres here is doing a production of the show, as well. I've got tickets for next Saturday, and I've heard the cast is really good. It features Michael Scott Bright (who starred in the national tour) as Chris, and Jade Stice (from the Broadway production) as Ellen. Has anyone ever seen the show with either of them performing?

I saw it but I unfortuantly saw Madame Butterfly prior to it so it wasn't as enjoyable. I kept thinking, "Oh, this is the part where she stabs herself...what? She shoots herself? Boo!"

It still was a fantastic musical.

Heh . . . so I saw the show shortly after my last post here, and it was fantastic! The whole cast was great, and the girl who played Kim was really tall compared to most of the other performers. The Engineer was great . . . I think I have a new dream role.

Oh, and I got the complete symphonic album. Definitely worth the price for any fan, especially if you happen to like Joanna Ampil (who plays Kim) or Kevin Gray (the Engineer). And even if you're not fond of the cast, it's still nice to have a complete record of the whole show. ^_^

Kevin Gray is amazing!! I love him to death! haha! :D I'm a crazy addict! (not really but it's a keeper) Joanna Ampil...why can't I understand where she comes from. When I Miss S the understudy for Kim was even shorter than me...(that's crazy mad short), but she was phenomenal!!! :D I forgot her name tho...darn
