Oo! Oo! I have a suggestion!
You should review the version starring Charles Dance and Teri Polo.
I've said this before, and I'll say it again, your reviews are awesome! You've made me want to watch the Herbert Lom version. :)

Any idea as to what you are going to review next?

Next up with be "Phantom of the Paradise", then I'm going to go chronological with the 1925, 1937 and 1943 films. Then, maybe we'll see about lampooning Dario Argento's monstrosity.

Oh, I can't wait for those! Especailly Lon's of course...
But which is the 1937 version?

Phantom of the Paradise? Next? Yay! :angel1: I'm anxiously awaiting your review.
Oh, and good luck with Dario Argento's version. *shudders* You know, the only two versions of POTO that I don't plan on seeing are that version, and the cartoon (I tried watching it before and I couldn't stomache the horrendous animation).

The cartoon version is OK, actually, pretty close to the Leroux novel, apart from some random cat murdering. If you value your sanity, steer clear of the Argento version. All you need to know about it can be seen in the excellent "El fantasma in 15 minutes" which I have favourited on my youtube channel.
Countess - the 1937 was the chinese remake of the Lon Chaney film, called "Song at Midnight". I finished watching it today and its pretty good!

Oh, the chinese version, my parents loved that version
(Yes, they're both chinese XDD So am I)
Anyway, I've been following your reviews, AWESOME JOB!!!!!!
Steer clear of the Argento's version?
Okay, I will. Isn't that th one with no mask?
The Countess
09-30-2008, 01:44 AM
That it is. It's supposed to be God awful but that doesn't stifle our curiosity does it?
Ah, a Lon Chaney remake? I should know that, shouldn't I? *chuckle*

Quick question, are you going to be reviewing the 1990 TV miniseries starring Charles Dance and Teri Polo?

I hope you do, cos that one is a joke! But don't force yourself through the film again...

The Phantom of Paradise one is great, so funny! I actually like that movie, for what it is, it's hokey, but fun. Then again I also like Rocky Horror Picture Show, lol!
Can't wait to see what you do with the Charles Dance version. I like this version for again what it is. It's more on the romantic fluff side, but it's in the real Paris Opera, gotta love that! And also I'm all for versions that have Christine as a blonde, I'm more cannon when it comes to that.

Ha! I love your reviews. I've just finished watching the Robert Englund ones and I couldn't help laughing out loud sometimes. You're very good and I love you comments here and there on some parts of the movie. You do make a good point about the space-time continuum thing. I'm still scratching my head, thinking about it, though.
Ha ha. Keep it up. I await more!

Another masterful review from the Supreme Phantom Reviewer! I gotta say, I nearly jumped out of my seat and applauded when you made that little comment about firing Julian Sands and replacing him with a more willing and competent actor. You are made out of awesome! :thumb:

Yeah, really, I'm curious too. I can't think of anything worse than the Argento's version. Even the Robert Englund version is better than the Argento version.

I should have known it was the Mexican version. I saw that one towards the end the one day, some years back. It was on TV while I was channel surfing. I was like, what the hell is this?! It was so confusing and just really bad!
Now I'm curious which movie has a female Phantom in it. I remember when Susan Lucci from the soap opera All My Children was wearing a black half mask when her character's face got scarred. Carol Burnett also dressed as the Phantom in that spoof with Julie Andrews, the Phantom of the Opry. It was pretty hokey, lol!

I subscribed to PhantomReviewer's videos because they're all so hilarious. The Dario Argenti reviews are so far epic. Ha. I can't wait for the next reviews. I kind of don't want him to stop. Once he's done with Phantom reviews what's he going to do?
Hm, I guess he'll review other works related to PotO.

I just watched a few of the reviews and they were awesome. I agree with the one about Julian Sands. Why did he want to do this movie as long as they didn't make him deformed?
Didn't he know that was the whole point of a Phantom movie? That he's supposed to be deformed?
Anyway, I'll stop before I rant about it.

I just watched the review of Leroux's novel, and all I have to say is: Bravo! MaskedLion's portrayal of Forsythe was PRICELESS! And the quotes were amazing! My particular favorite was:
-"They've gone to a better place"
-"You mean...?
-"YES!... They auditioned for Les Miserables."
I can't wait for his review of Kay and *cringes* Forsythe. He should bring out the "siren" on him like he did with Schumacher. THAT would be amazing!
I really don't want him to stop. He's just to good! I'm looking forward to the commentaries, though.

Sorry, but I had to double post. So far, the Forsythe review is GOLD! I think this might be his best yet! I now know to never read this book (not that I was going to, anyway).
-"I don't know, I was high at the time."
That explains so much....
Can't wait for the next part!
EDIT: 12/22/09
Okay, I didn't want to triple post, but where's the love for PR? I seriously about fell out of my chair laughing at Forsythe's execution! Bravo, Phantom Reviewer, Biskits, and Masked Lion! You will be missed!
