I'm more into manga than I am anime, but I like the Fruits Basket anime, and DNAngel. Apart from everything by Miyazaki, that is.

I am kinda addicted to anime and Fullmetal Alchemist in particular. Considering I've started attending a anime club and somehow was asked to join[actually, my friend and I just kept turning up to their screenings because we knew people there and in the end ended up joining], I've actually watched parts of some anime.
I've watched
[Completed]
Fullmetal Alchemist
Full Metal Panic Fumoffu
[In parts]
Bleach
Prince of Tennis
Pretear
Fruits Basket
Loveless
Gundam Seed Destiny
and some others.
And stuff like Spirited Away, the Cat Returns.

I'm not much into anime, but Hayao Mizayaki's film are wonderful, especially spirited away and Princess Monoke, theey are almost poetic in their style, a pleasure for the eye as well as the stories are wonderful.

I haven't seen anime in a while...I don't even know where to find it anymore. As a kid I fell in love with Sailor Moon and Tenchi (I forget the second word...darn it! But I remember the cartoon well). I thought they were really cute and I loved the romance inbetween everything. I used to own Spirited Away but I lost it in my old house. :( It was a little weird for me but I liked it anyway.

Muyo.
Um, I'm rather surprised no one has yet mentioned:
-Cowboy Bebop
-FLCL (Furikuri, Fooly Cooly, etc.)
-Hellsing
-.hack//SIGN
-Chobits
-Rurouni Kenshin
-Trigun
-Witch Hunter Robin
Those are all pretty popular (and very good, might I add). There's also a really good Anime that's not very popular at all called NightWalker. It's about vampires. ^-^
Happy to know I'm not the only Anime fan who also likes Phantom, Syio! :D

Depends on where you live. In Singapore, there's a channel on cable TV that shows nothing but anime. Sadly, my family does not suscribe to it.
Over here in Perth, I don't even know if there is a anime channel. What most of my friends do is just download the fansubs off the internet. The anime I have is either downloaded or bought. And even the ones I bought are actually bootlegs and the subtitling is crap.

Huh. Well here in Ohio, USA I doubt they have anything anime...people don't seem to be that open-minded around here about different culture's cartoons. :( Besides, it's like the no-where state. Have you ever heard anyone say, "I want to go visit Ohio"?
Anyway, I guess I'm going to have to buy some then. I want to find some that's romantic, could be suspenseful, maybe a little bit of action, but not entirely a fighting movie, and definately not rated R! Lol!

In Australia anime is shown on a few channels like Cartoon Network on PayTV and Channel 10 on normal tv on a kids show called Cheez TV. But that's it. If you love anime, you have to go out and buy the dvds. Which I think isn't fair all the time because some shows I want to preview first before buying to see what it's like.
I'm addicted to the Dragonball Series. I love DB, DBZ and DBGT. I'm slowly collecting the series on DVD. Recently bought the first 3 episodes of DBZ where the voices had been redubbed so that the entire Dragonball series had the same character voices throughout.
I also got a sample anime dvd last year with one of my DBZ dvds which had one episode of a variety of series. From that I loved Fruits Basket and the Vision of Escaflowne (own one escaflowne dvd so far - v2 where Van turns into an ANGEL!!!). There was also Angelic Layer that my little sister thought was the best because of one scene where one guy put a live octopus in another guy's pants as punishment for asking him a question (weird but watching the guy dance with an octopus in his pants is the best entertainment for an 8 year old.)
I saw Full Metal Alchemist on dvd recently at Target. It seemed interesting but I was afraid of buying it in case of being disappointed. People please tell me what it's like. I read it was about two brothers whos bodies got ripped apart after trying to resurrect their dead mother and now they're on a journey to restore themselves or something like that.
I also loved the movies Spirited Away and Castle of Cangalistro. I have the special edition dvd of Spirited Away but I don't own the other movie.
I also love Neon Genesis Evangelion. My old boss from work gave me the entire series that he had on video. My 14 year old sister and myself spent the entire weekend watching the videos.

I love all kinds of Anime's. Especially, Rurouni Kenshin, Inuyasha, Slayers, Trigun, Yu Yu Hakashu, Mars (Manga), Demon Diaries (Manga), Dears (Manga), Yugioh, Ghost Shell, Wolf's Rain, Blue Gender, Cowboy Bebop, Outlaw Star, Card Captor Sakura, Zoids, Chaotic Century/New Generation, and Final Fantasy...there is more however, i can't think of them right now.

Pssshhh. Basic Cable has Cartoon Network, on which Adult Swim comes on around 11 PM, and if you check their schedule you'll see they have lots of Anime played daily.
Comcast Digital cable, DirectTV and dish networks support The Anime Network (http://www.theanimenetwork.com/demandit.php), which is Anime shows 24/7. So you can either commission them to carry it in your area on that site, or just talk to your cable provider.

Uh, well, if you mean you don't want porn, then that's easy enough to avoid. But what you're describing sounds a lot like Cowboy Bebop, a totally awesome, artistic and beautiful series. It's got all of those things...but it's fairly violent, so...I dunno if you'd call it rated "R"...*frowns*
Something safer is Fruits Basket, which his hilarious and has hardly any violence, but isn't a "kids" anime either. I'd go for one of those. *nods*

Wow...I like almost all the anime/manga mentioned, and I probably own a DVD or bok of most of them. BTW! If you have comcats digital cable, then you automaticly have On Demand...If you go to on demand, and got to The cutting Edge, then to...umm...Anime Network, you get a HUGE selection of Animes, that's where I learned of most of the ones I went out to buy.

I hope I don't spoil the plot for you about Fullmetal Alchemist but whatever. In summery, it's actually about these two boys who are alchemists and they somehow mess up their mother's "resurrection" and well have to "pay the price". And they travel around trying to return themselves to normal. That's just a very very brief and vague summery. I don't dare say anything that may spoil the plot. It's a sad/funny/sci-fi/fantasy mix. And I've watched the entire thing and now my DVDs are with a friend.
And one crazy thing, when animes are dubbed into english, they sometime change the titles so 'Tokyo Mew Mew' is now 'Mew Mew Power' and my friend and I almost died laughing when we found out.

Ahh. Drawing Anime. One of my fetishes. I draw anime over anything I get my hands on, I swear my teachers await or dread my scetches and pictures on all my papers every time we turn in homework . . .I think I have one teacher who is going to start counting my pictures as points against me.
I have been getting into Fruits Basket more and more lately, it's so cute! ^_^ I love the story so much, I want to be the year of the cat!

Ahhh, I feel right at home in this thread! Seriously, ask anyone who knows me and they know I am an anime/manga wh0re! ^_^ Not that I'm ashamed to admit it or anything... heh, I just am addicted.
I actually got my introduction to Anime when I was young. The first show I ever watched was Sailor Moon and because of that the show will always hold a special place in my heart, though I don't watch it as much now. :(
Other shows in my past include:

Digimon
Pokemon
Esclaflowne
Card Captor Sakura
Some shows I still love to watch are:
Rurouni Kenshin/Samurai X
Yu Yu Hakusho
DN Angel
Orphan
Full Metal Alchemist
Gravitation
Fruits Basket
Generator Gawl
There's a lot more too, I love movies, like:
Princess Monoke
Spirited Away
Metropolis
Apple Seed
I read manga for all of the above mentioned plus:
Tsubasa Resvior Chronicle
xxxHolic
Girl Got Game
Hikaru No Go!
Whistle!
And I'm an avid player of the Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts games. ^_^

Hah!! I have found... my thread. X3 I was just at an anime convention, too.
For the best dubbing results:
Fruits Basket (be patient; it takes a while)
Full Metal Alchemist
Cowboy Bebop
Trigun (Dude, a Power Ranger does Vash's voice. X3~That makes me giggle)
Decent dubbing:
Ruroni Kenshin
DNAngel
Fushigi Yuugi (though I'm the only one on earth who likes the dub)
Azu Manga Daioh
Naruto (they're trying REALLY hard!)
(For those who don't know, "dubbing" refers to when they put an anime from its original language (Japanese, duh) into English.)
Not-your-average love stories:
Gravitation
Tokyo Babylon (I LOVE THIS MANGA)
Fushigi Yuugi (HIGHLY recommend)
Fruits Basket (another fave -- the only thing on earth I've seen thirty times or more)
Horror:
Pet Shop of Horrors (Manga only, and a bit of a lovestory...)
Action:
Full metal Alchemist (BEST. SHOW.)
Ruroni Kenshin
Cowboy Bebop
Trigun
Don't like (I just don't like these as much):
DNAngel (though very popular)
Naruto (sickeningly popular)
I'm sure to add more to this list! I just can't think tonight!

I was actually somewhat disappointed with the DN Angel anime... I'm more a fan of the manga than the anime (though I own the complete box series) Still, there were good parts in the anime and Vic being the voice of dark is always a plus. (Vic also does the voice for Edward Elric in Full Metal Alchemist). So yeah...
Fushigi Yuugi is an excellent manga, I have yet to see the anime though :(

I like some anime... we have this thing in Melbourne called "Manifest" which is like a Manga/Anime festival and you go dressed as a character and do a roleplay sort of thing. I was going to go this year as the tomato from Demon Diaries but I can't figure out how to make a giant tomato outfit so...
We have an exchange student from France at our house at the moment and she brought my sister a manga book written in French... it's all about bread... something about this boy trying to make a 'uniquely Japanese' bread... :s

I too love Cowboy Bebop! That's probably what got me interested in Anime was that show when I had Cartoon Network. I actually rented from my library "The Best Sessions" of Cowboy Bebop, me so happy! :)
I've been wanting to see Vampire Hunter D, it looked cool and I think my teacher recommended me to see it when I did my Gothic/Vampire Literature independent study. I've seen Millenium Actress and as confusing as I was by it (I am easily confuzzled.) I enjoyed it. I've seen Spirited Away which I liked, but I only saw part of it. I really need to be caught up in the Anime, I remember barely some Sailor Moon when I was younger that's about it. I'm not as fanatic as I would be if Had been exposed to it more, but I like it.

Okay, if you love Fruits Basket (and Harry Potter, though that's optional), you will LOVE this show:
Ouran High School Host Club
Look it up. It's maaaaaahvelous. It is an unintentional parody of Fruits Basket, about a common kid in a super-elite rich kid school. You meet amazingly funny characters (one of them happens to be the EXACT clone of Momiji, down to the same voice). There are also red-headed twins who make fun of the fanfictions written about the Weasley twins from Harry Potter. (In other words, they make fun of twincest. But I think they're joking, so it's very funny). It is a fast-paced show that has gotten everyone I know hooked. Watch it!
In other news: youtube.com is getting rid of all of its anime. There were issues with copyrights (no kidding), and they have to take down every episode of anime posted on there. This makes me wanna sue youtube for getting sued in the first place. I depend on that anime because I'm not comfortable with downloading! But... alas, youtube continues to deprive me of my beloved anime. I guess I'll survive. T_T

My intro to anime was before anyone used the word: Speed Racer! It was just another cartoon to us.
My first love in anime... It's a tie I suppose between Wolf's Rain and Samurai Champloo. Others I've enjoyed are Mirage of Blaze, Hellsing, InuYasha, Sailor Moon (love the gorgeous bad boys!) and a host of others.
The first anime film I saw was "Nausicaa...", but many dislike the English-language version. Personally, I prefer subtitles, but the animation is always amazing.
I bought "Vampire Hunter D" (the original) in Japanese with no subtitles because it was such an amazing-looking film. Naturally, I love the new version, too. Every time I see D, he reminds me of Michael Praed, who could have played that role beautifully. When I saw "Van Helsing", I thought of D, too.
Others that I love are "Spirited Away", "Princess Mononoke", "My Neighbor Totoro" and, most recently, "Howl's Moving Castle", all by that genius previously listed, the man referred to as Japan's Disney.
Recently, I watched and taped "Weathering Continent".
My anime collection continues to grow through two sources: The Cartoon Network and Encore's Animidnight offerings. The latter is wonderful because it offers uncut, uninterrupted showings, as befits a movie channel.
Naturally, I'm also hooked on manga and am starting a yaoi collection. (Be still my slashie heart!)

Well let's see, Yay someone besides Rayna and I put down Gravitation! I have seen/read EVERYTHING (well almost, I'm working on the manga I just need two more volumes XD) from that series I love it!
Petshop of Horrors is also another favorite, I own the mangas and I've seen the show. Not too bad, but that is only because they have like four episodes out. Kinda like a teaser to get you into the manga, I read the manga first and saw the show...so not much of a teaser XD.
Dragon Knights is another manga that I love, but beware it gets kinda twisted to read...mostly because I have such a bad memory and every time someone comes in or has a story I forget how the other characters are involved. Well it is still really good, speaking of which Rayna what ever happened to the series? Did i forget a volume or something?
Well anyway I have read and seen Fake. Aside from different structure style with the people not bad (mostly the eyes, its different from what I'm used to)
Uhhh, lets see I like Legal Drug, not sure if they made a show version of it. I'm into it, not so much my sister though.
I also like BoBoBo-BoBo-BoBo, does anyone else? I seem to be the only one amongst my friends. Just curious.
Black Cat is neat, I love the mood swings in it XD.
Spiral, very good, but there is this one episode that I can't stand (shudders thinking about it)
Well there are many others that I can't quite think of right now so thats all I'll write for now. Beware though I may come back XD.

Umm... I think you're about five volumes behind on Dragon Knights, love. They haven't updated in over six months (I think just before I went to college last year, in fact... o___o). We both have to sit down and reread the series. It's just gotten too complicated -- but addictive! Arg! The stories make no sense and the characters are crazy looking, but I;m HOOKED!
T__T I have to watch Gravitation again. Can you believe it's been two years since I've seen it? And with my bad memory, I only remember Ryu-chan glomping Tohma in that one episode. And an airplane. That's about it.
*heart* Legal Drug! I started reading that one. And of COURSE Petshop of Horrors is good -- Count D looks just like Johnny Depp in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, which just makes things creepier.
*quirks an eyebrow* Yes. You're the only person on EARTH who likes Bobobo. *inches away*
Magic Knight Rayearth -- did I forget to mention this show? It was an astounding watch back in 8th grade. Now it's still amazing, but I'm a lot older, so it's different. But it holds precious memories of me watching it with my closest friends in 8th grade. ^__^ Wonderful show.
I always know I'm forgetting really good anime. But... whatever.

Ohhh that explains alot, about Dragon Knights. Yes we must have a get together and dedicate ourselves to an anime day...er...with all our anime together though, well you don't need to do anything for a year, do you? xD
Ack! I fogot Yu-gi-Oh, and only some parts, like the VERY first one that they didn't show in America because Yami is psycho XD. And Millenium World! Its sooo goood! It explains everything! There are a few other parts, but those two are my fave. XD
yay! I'm the only Bobobo fan! Well there was this other dude at anime con, but that doesn't count...
Hmm Ruroni Kenshin isn't bad, though I'm getting into Eureka Seven. Its wierdly good.
Nice description of Count D dear...

Yes! Someone loves Gravitation! I place all blame on Shadow-sa, who raved on and on about this smexy anime with some hot guy on guy action. Yes, Shadow, it is YOUR fault I love this anime, not my inner slasher. :-p
Though seriously, how could you resist? look how cute Shuichi and Eri are. And Ryuichi!!!!! Ryuichi = <3333 plain as day! There is no other way to put it.
Recently started reading Ouran High School Host Club. That is love as well.

I grew up on Sailor Moon, but now the Only anime I watch is Fruits Basket. It's such an amazing series.
I grew up on Sailor Moon, too. It was the anime that first planted the idea of reincarnation in my head, and in a weird, twisted way, it has stuck with me ever since.
I also quite enjoy the Techi Muyo incarnations (with the exception of the recent one that didn't include any of the original characters. Seriously, what was with that?). Dragonball Z's ok, though I prefer Dragonball.
I also am one of the few who like Pokemon. I have had the biggest crush on Meowth ever since I was in fourth grade. I just didn't realize it until eighth grade, when I heard Inuko Inuyama sing "Nyasu No Uta". It broke my heart so much, and it made me think "You're not alone, Meowth! I love you!" Then, I started finding the Meowth's English voice sexy. It stayed sexy even after the voice actor got a sex change, which is actually quite scary when you think about it. Too bad it got replaced. Oh well. Sexy voice or voice that sounds exactly like Gary Oak's, it's still Meowth, and I wub him. I also like Mewtwo quite a bit. You may already know this from my other post, but Myuutsuu's original voice actor in Japan was also the original Japanese Phantom. He sounds so much like Michael Crawford, only his approach is more subtle and sexy.
Speaking of Pokemon and Phantom of the Opera, did you know that Sarah Brightman's apparently gonna sing the new Pokemon Diamond Pearl Opening in England?
