Appearance: Jack Olivier is, to put it bluntly, gorgeous. Pale skin set the background for a shock of dark hair, usually brushed back on days he attends the opera house, but messy as though he's just rolled out of bed on most other days. Dark, expressive brows frame his silver eyes, which very easily fix into an intense stare. He is slightly taller than average, and prefers to be a tad scruffy, often going three or four days before shaving if he does not have a performance. While not entirely self conceited, he is aware of his features and uses them, along with his velvet voice, to his advantage when he sees fit.

Personality: Stubborn and romantic, two traits that do not usually go hand in hand but describe Jack perfectly. He is truly his mother's son in this fashion. When he sees something he wants, he goes and gets it, one way or another. He has little respect for the rules of society and the class structure which his family holds so dearly. He is a bit of a rebel, but very serious about his work. He is a bit of a ladies man, because there are just so many that catch his eyes, but he has not felt the need to be serious with any of them, and has huge commitment issues. He usually has tunnel vision, and it is currently focused on his career.

Jack is honest, possibly to a fault, and does not pay as much attention to other people's feelings as he should. He drinks just a little too much, smokes just a little too much, and flirts just a little too much, but that is the price of being born in France.

History: Jack Olivier was a single child, born to a single parent, of a fortunate background. Born in the province of Champagne, France, wine was the official family business, though the company owned much more than that now. Vineyards were the Olivier family's primary concern, and all children who bore the name studied the grapes, the vines, and learned everything there was to know about it.

Except Jack. He was an unspoken exception. He was encouraged to do so, and given every opportunity to learn, but never pushed as hard as the other Olivier offspring. This was mostly due to the fact that his mother had fallen in love with a man, had produced a child, and had said nothing to her family about it. She had simply gone away to live in Paris for a year, and returned with a baby, and no ring on her finger. The baby was, of course, loved as the other grand- and great-grandchildren in the line, but the traditionalism of the elder family members was quite evident. They never treated the boy worse, just different. He enjoyed all of the advantages of his family's wealth and privilege, but was not obligated to contribute to the business or being pressured to find a nice young woman to settle down with and make little vintner babies with.

This was fine with him.

Jack instead took a life on the stage. He had loved performing from a very early age, and as the arts were highly celebrated in his family he was encouraged to pursue his craft. His lessons through the years improved on his natural talent, and he began earning guest spots in small productions through sheer determination and talent. The fact that he took private lessons at home instead of attending a public or event private school afforded him great flexibility with his schedule, and though he had never been a stellar student, mostly due to not really caring, he squeaked by and graduated. While other young adults his age were applying to post secondary education, Jack knew exactly what he wanted to do with his life, and set out to achieve it.

So Jack bought an apartment close to the opera house in Paris, and waltz in looking for a job. And walked out with one, though he hadn't known it then. His luck was extraordinary -- he had entered the opera house and had scored an audition, which due to his experience on stage, perfect audition, and the opera house's current lack of sturdy Bass singers, led to a breakout role in an original production being put off by the opera house. While his youth has been causing several to raise eyebrows at his luck, Jack is determined to make it -- without the help of his family's money pulling the strings.

Other: Jack always told himself, if you're going to do it, do it right. He takes this to heart, and throws himself into all of the important things, which is why he hesitates in getting serious with women.

Though thoroughly French, Jack was given the English spelling of his name because he was named after his father, who was American. This is all he really knows about the male side of his parentage.
