[The Phantom]

The Paris Opera House

The Opera House burned nearly down to the ground in the year 1870 when the tragedy of the Phantom took place. Nearly desolate, the building sat dormant for over 200 years until a group took interest in the building. It was fully revamped and nearly rebuilt, as well as fitted with new age technology of the times. The Paris Opera House of the future now houses the Present’s most famous operas and performers; those wanting to make a living or perfect their work come here to live full time. As soon as it was back active strange occurences began to take place... just like in 1870 with the original legend of the Phantom of the Opera.
Basically you can be a performer, dancer, orchestra member, lighting technician, or anything and everything between in the Opera House. This is normal, free form role play in which you can do as you wish, as long as it follows the RPG guide and board/thread rules. Here are the current features of "The Paris Opera House".

Please post your role playing biography before you begin to roleplay in the Opera Patrons (http://www.phantoms-opera.com/forumdisplay.php?f=52) forum, making sure to follow the Character Guidelines (http://www.phantoms-opera.com/showthread.php?t=497). This thread will serve as your Character Profile, and place to hold any other tidbits of information you may have about your character.

Note: Normal members are not allowed to role play as any of the original Phantom cast members, characters from movies or books, etc. Moderators reserve the right to use the names or characters, if they wish. Being original isn't so bad! Feel free to add extra features to your character bio to make it more diverse.

The staff is more than willing to help tweak your character to fit more into the storyline of the new age Opera. They may ask you to change something in your profile, if it is against the guidelines.

Creating your character . . .

In the Opera House each user has their own custom character that lives, breaths, and lives out their days practicing and performing. Before you start creating your character, there are a few guidelines that we ask you to follow. They are simple to follow and listed below:

1. NO Mary Sues and Gary Stues! This term refers to someoneÂ’s character that seems near perfect, has no flaws, and has the perfect personality that anyone would ever dream of. We ask you that you not write your character this way and give them a unique history, and even add in a few flaws here and there. It makes the character more interesting.

2. NOT everyone can be singers! We know that you crave the spotlight, but give your character a unique talent of their own. If this was real life, there would be a more even number of singers, dancers, writers, stagehands, etc living at the Opera Populaire.

3. Create your own. We ask that you not role-play as a character from the Phantom of the Opera. It wouldnÂ’t make sense anyway since this RP is set into the present daytime when all the characters from the past would be dead. Slight references are fine, but please just create your own unique character. In the end your character will come out better.

4. And last... be creative! Your profile doesn't have to be just boring and out there. Feel free to expand on your character's personality and history. Post role playing sequences of their past experiences as a child, years before in the Opera House, or whichever. It's up to YOU and your imagination.

As a special treat for the members of the board, we’re allowing you to have a primary and secondary role playing character! With every new feature there must be rules and regulations to keep things in order. It’s not to decrease your fun, but to decrease any problems that might arise with two characters being in play.
No double posting.
When you have two characters in the same thread, it can get confusing. In order to make things run smoothly, allow a minimum of two posts from another member between role playing posts of each character.

No excessive interactions.
Role playing by yourself with your two characters can get annoying and boring. If you have multiple characters, you are not allowed to have them constantly interacting with each. Sometimes it is inevitable none the less, but anything more than a casual hello can cause problems with other members.

No Primary and Secondary character relations.
Your primary and secondary characters are not allowed to have any sort of ties together. This means that your two characters that you role play on TPO with cannot be father and daughter, brother and sister, brother and brother, boyfriend and girlfriend, and so on down the family line. This would only cause continual problems.

Mix it up a bit.
If your first role playing character is a girl, make the second one a guy. Male characters are a minority around the opera house. It’s not a requirement for female members to create a male character after their female one, but it’s highly encouraged. Also, try to make your additional characters completely different from the first personality and physical trait-wise. Diversity it good.
You will be given one warning if you cause too many problems with your additional character. After the first warning, you will have roses deducted from your account. If problems still persist, then you may be forced to make one of your characters “leave” the Opera House for good, as well as loose the ability to create additional characters. We shouldn't have to enforce anything like this though. ;)

Secondary Characters List

Since there has been some confusion about which secondary characters are approved or unapproved for the RPG, we are attempting to clear it up by posting a list of the users and the names of their approved secondary characters. Please be sure to read all the Character Guidelines when creating one; if your character is approved, it will be added to the list.

A) That one of the moderators forgot to put your secondary character's name down, or

B) Your character has not been approved.

Please PM me or one of the other moderators to add your name once your character is approved or, if it has already been approved and but has not been added yet.
