So -- why do you have the username you do?

Mine used to be Zelda de le Fantôme. It's French for "Zelda of the Ghost", and it has a double meaning -- "ghost" could refer to the Opera Ghost or the Holy Ghost.

Then I changed it to Christine Daaé, for two reasons -- one, I think it's uber-cool, and two, I'm very much like Christine Daaé in looks and personality, which we discussed in the General Chat.

My best friend use to call me OG because she thinks I'm mysterious and I always seem to be in two places at once; plus he's my favourite character, and i love theatre. When I first joined the forum I used the username OG. After a while I decided to lengthen it to Opera Ghost, rather than the initials.

I chose Erik for my username, because I am completely obsessed. he is an artist, creative, inventive, and enchanting...sorry, that's just my opinion

I chose The Phantom because well, there aren't that many manical male characters in The Phantom of the Opera. I used the username on another board once for a while and seemed to like it, so why not on here? I've thought about changing my name several times to possibly Hugh Panaro, or Gaston Leroux, but I can't seem to give up "The Phantom". It's like... I'm stuck to it!

I chose Why So Silent as my username because that has to be my favourite scene in the entire musical/movie. The phantom just seems so powerful coming down those steps as the Red Death and everyone is afraid of him ^_^ Awesomelyness.

I was thinking of naming myself "The Safety Pin" as that's my favourite part in Leroux's book, but I thought it would also have confused a lot of people >_<

The numbers were actually an accident...I dropped my phone on the keyboard and well, 123 came up, and I thought it was hillarious that it was in order so I kept it.

For anyone who has randomly browsed the Kay thread/PPP, the reasoning behind my username should be obvious... For anyone who HASN'T, let me fill you in:

The Khanum is a character in Kay's Phantom (refer to my little text follower thing), and one of my favorite people in the entire book. I like to think she is the embodiment of evil... The Khanum is a ruthless seductress who taunts Erik with her sexual innuendo. :D She thinks his deformation is oh-so-sexy, and she just rocks my socks. She's my second favorite character...directly behind Erik, of course.

Well, my story behind my name is a complete lack of originality. I'm just an ordinary kid so I just slapped together names. I thought of phantom because it is my favorite movie, character and favorite actor who plays the phantom. Nemo is my nick name and I've had it since I joined cadets. This one sergeant thought it would be easier to remember my last name "Niemi"(its pronounced Knee-me hehe) so she called me Nemo in class. True Story.

Sadako: Is from the movie called 'Ringu'. Also from the book by Koji Suzuki that's simply called 'Ring'. Is the Japanese counterpart to the character Samara from 'The Ring'. Except she was cooler. So there. :3

Kurosawa: I got it from the game 'Fatal Frame', the scariest video game ever. I believe it also means 'black sheep' or something.

The story behind my username: I was in the Maritime Musuem at Frementle[Which is near Perth, Australia] and was looking at the ships and all the artifacts and stuff. [If I have not mentioned it before, I shall say it now. I'm kinda obsessed with ships, especially the Titanic and related ships but I also am interested in ships in general. ]Then I saw the 'Vergulde Draeck'[or some form of spelling similar to that] and started thinking it was an interesting name. Some months later, I was bored and was fooling around with babblefish. I had completely forgotton the name but somehow remembered the english translation and popped that in and out came 'Vergulde Draak'. Then I started using that as my name everywhere.

Gypsy -- I am just fascinated by gypsy cultures. I use the nick Rowan Mayfair quite often too because she's the main character of one of my favourite books (Anne Rice's books on the Lives of the mayfair witches. Rowan has such a strong personality).

Claidissa is the main character of The Claidi Journals (Wolf Star, Wolf Tower, etc.), a series which I really like and I can really relate to Claidi. Plus her name is really pretty. :D

My username when I first joined was simply Raoul. Only because when I joined I didn't know what Raoul's last name was, but that name was reserved for staff anyway. When I first joined I was guilty of only seeing the movie and so I was in love with Patrick Wilson, reason for the name Raoul.

I still had Raoul when I became a Principle Dancer, then I changed my username to Raoul de Chagny when I became an Opera Manager.

I've been "IamErik771" ever since I first joined PhantomFans.net last October. I was trying to decide whether to call myself "IamErik" or "The Persian" when I first joined, and so I flipped a coin. I have no idea where the "771" came from. It's been a part of every username I've ever had since I first began using the internet. Except for that time period when I briefly changed to "007"... :D

[Forgotten Angel]

Well, I started out as Phantom de l'Opera 'cause I didn't feel like looking up the French word for "Phantom" - which turned out to simply be "Fantðme." In any case, I recently changed it Forgotten Angel because I personally think the change was long overdue anyway. I wanted a change of scenery, if you know what I mean.

Forgotten Angel is derived from the scene at Christine's father's grave. The lyrics there are among my favorite in the entire musical:

I came up with toxic fruit because I was dying my hair about a month ago and the dye smelled like a combination of tropical fruit and really extremely toxic chemicals. And besides...the phantom is a toxic fruit in a deep but weird way. Lol!

Dark rose has several different aspects to it. One throught out the entire movie Erik gives Christine dark roses, like blood read and some looked black. And what's funny was before I saw the movie I fell in love with black roses. I always draw them, except when i draw them they are frost bitten. So my name came out to be Eriks_dark_rose.

It was jsut by chance that I stumbled upon the black rose in my siggie. ;)

Ceridwen is a witch from old Celtic Mythology, and I love those stories! She's a Goddess in the stories and mother of the Merlin, the well known wizard from the Arthurian Legends. I really really love the 'Avalon' story in which Merlin plays a very big part as well. You might have heard of 'Mists of Avalon' by Marion Zimmer Bradley? It's great. So I also choose www.avalonmists.nl as my homepage and I work under the name of Avalon Design with the nickname 'Ceridwen' ;) :D

Ooo, I can now update this since I got a username change. :) I have had The Phantom ever since the board opened. It sort of started to grow old on me. I had several options and I decided to change my name to the violinist that was Christine's father. I might have the name mispelled, but that's alright. 2. I signed up on Christmas Eve and one of the things that reminds me of both Christmas and phantom is Candle I would have picked Angel but I feel like that's at least a part in some usernames and I wanted to be different.

So I guess for me the real question is why I gave my character his name. Jean Sauveur, Jean is obviously the French form of Jon... he is my favorite character I've ever created, thus why I named him after myself. Interestingly enough he is in a way named after his AI who's also named John. Sauveur is french for Savior, which i meant to be ironic given the nature of the character and his strange path to redemption.

Oh don't worry I find him very enchanting too. Alright he we go with my little *fake cough and coughs out, "Not really!"* lecture! !
this is the one time I have three reason at the top of my head! One, Erik is my Angel. . .he's saved me, he's made me happy, and he's everything I've longed for.

He's saved me:
I used to try to think of any way to make myself die. My daily line at school was: "See you all in hell" or "I'm going to be hanging from the stage's curtain so you can just ask me when you get to hell!" or something like that. It was when he opened my eyes, along with God's loving help, they two helped me become the happier woman I am today. I've been happier than I was as an eleven year old. And in a sense he's watched me. I once was seriously about to commit suicide, but I swore I heard a voice directly behind me, it was his voice. How? I could sense Angel and I could sense human, but most of all I could sense ghost and mystery. The voice went, "Don't do this, for I'm here to watch and guide you. . ." I felt as though I were to have an Angel of the Night--it was nighttime--come and save me from jumping off that bridge...it save me. But in true he saved me. . .don't believe me? Alright then. . .

He's made me happy:
Brushing up on the last point, he has made me so much happier. I don't know what mystic power he conceals in his mind, but those powers are, to me, hidden in his heart. But I can't always be happy...

I know that Erik is basically everything I've wanted in a life long companion, smart, misunderstood, musical inclined, and so many things that I can't list here because I would be continuing for days! What my heart find its likings is something I can't help. I didn't plan to fall for him. I never intended to even hear of Phantom of the Opera after my friends insane obsession! I had no idea about the story I only knew Raoul this! Raoul that! Erik sucks, he' deserves this and deserves that! Well do you know what I have to so now? He doesn't deserve that life of being hidden and shunned. Why must the world's most wonderful people be hidden from the world till their gone? But the depressing thought is the fact that he's not real, and even if he were to be real in life he couldn't love me, for no man in this world could love me. It's proven just ask a professional...

Erik, to me, is everything. My friend, the one I wish to talk to, my true friend that I could trust and go to for everything and anything...

Ummm well

I was up last night at like 2 am. Couldn’t sleep, been ill for several days and cat was outside the window so I had to let him in before I went mental from the meowing. And this is late for me. I am a pathetic excuse for a teenager. I need my sleep see. Otherwise, well "Hell hath no fury as Aimee sleepy" As someone once said.

Well when I can't sleep I doodle, or write stuff and I was writing random stuff and dozed off. Well In the morning I woke up looked at what I had wrote and there was a poem I wrote called "Falling again". I cannot remember writing it; of course I must have as it is written in my handwriting. But I read it and it was good (for me) and it has been going round my head all day. So it was the first thing that popped into my head when I had to think of a username.

I used ErikismyAngel5 b/c of my horrid past, adolescent life. Such influence at school could mislead even an honors student. I was influence on depression, I never did cutting or drugs, but I just sat in misery. And the Angel thing started all when I was about to commit _______ (you know!), but then I heard a voice, it was God's and he reminded me, Think of the other's of whom have suffered far much more than you... I then thought of Erik. And with that I returned home to a house of off key parents home from a night of finding your daughter missing from home when she said she'd be back in an hour. Despite their anger, I accepted that I was in trouble as a way to show how I know of other's more pain filled grief. As stupid, as simple, as uncreative as it can get it's the truth. And ErikismyAngel did sound right without the 5--box five--so I had to get it to be ErikismyAngel5. That's my story, like it, love it, or hate it whatever! I know it's my heart's belief and from that moment I swore to a better lifestyle of mine. So i don't often lie.

I use my username everywhere I go. It's sort of generic for me, but it's easy to remember.

The meaning behind it is a long story. When I was little my favorite movie was always always always the third Sailor Moon movie, Black Dream Hole. I was obsessed with it, and, if you've ever seen it, you would probably understand my name, but if you haven't, my name refers to the character Perle, the dream fairy (in the english version he refered to himself as a elf, but that didn't suite it). I was so in love with him, that I posted his name everywhere I went. I created many accounts on many websites, and that was my name. Now, when people see my username, they just assume that I love fairies (which I do! lol!), but I still have a fancy for Perle. I think it's mostly because I love bishies with white hair! (bishie: noun, BEE-shee; a very smexy man or boy in a anime or manga. ex: Yue/Yuki from Cardcaptor Sakura, Yuki Souhma from Fruits Basket, RIKU from Kingdom Hearts, Perle, from Sailor Moon 3)

The 101 part I just tagged on there because it was easy to remember, like a class, like Science 101, or Home Ec. 101. It just stuck.

I made my user name around five years ago. The name came when I drew a picture of James from Pokemon dressed as Link from the Legend of Zelda games. The combination was named Kojink (the 'Koj' is from James' Japanese name 'Kojiro'). When I started to join Internet forums, and made a Pokemon trainer based off me, I added an 'a' to the name for femininity. Ironically, some forum members still thought I was a guy. Esgaroth is the Elven name of the village of Dale, which rested in the arms of the Lonely Mountain.
