Has anyone else seen Forty Second Street? I saw it the same week I first saw Phantom in New York City, and I was highly impressed with it as well. My marching band even had a show on 42nd Street my sophomore year. What do you guys think?

I loved the story line and everything. The songs were great and the singing was awesome. When I saw it in Broadway I had the lyrics to the main theme song stuck in my head for what seemed like forever... "Sporty, gorty, forty second street." *duh duh da daah, duh uh.* Something like that. ;)

It sounds like such a wonderful show! Sadly I have missed my opportunity to see it the last time I was in NY. But I got to see POTO at least! I hope to go back and see it some day though! It sounds like I would love the dancing!

I've seen it twice -
Once in NYC, from the second row, center, with Patrick Cassidy
and once when it came to Pittsburgh, with Tom Wopat.
I seriously love this show, and everytime I listen to the soundtrack (the original, with the fantabulous Jerry Orbach as Julian), I'm like "I wish I could tap-dance."
So, maybe in the future, I will be forced to learn how to tap, just because.
Favorite song - "Lullaby of Broadway." It doesn't get any better than that. Especially because it was one of the shows I saw during my very first trip to New York City...and because by the time we saw it, I had already fallen hard for that Lullaby. I just needed 42nd Street to tell me what it was. :)

I saw 42nd Street a couple of years ago and it was amazing!!!! and one of the good things was that if my dance class does something from it, i can do it...(i tap dance) lol...i dont mean to brag. it was just one of my favorite parts of it........ i really need to get the soundtrack though......

I haven't seen the stage production, only the original film, so I don't know if I'm allowed to make any comments. Have you seen the film? I agree about addictive songs! "42nd Street" is definitely an earworm (a phrase I only recently was introduced to) although "You're Getting to Be a Habit with Me" tended to stick in my head long after for whatever reason.
I think seeing it on stage would be an amazing experience, but there's no chance of that here in the Midwest. The nearest place would be more than 100 miles away in St. Louis, Missouri. Oh well... I'll continue being theaterless I suppose.
