The Phantom of the Middle School
~Chapter 1~
The bus roared to a stop. We were finally at Eriksson Middle.
Hey, Adam, howre you? Jessie asked her best friend, Adam, while stepping off the bus.
Just fine. How are you? Adam asked back
Ditto. Jessie said.
Jessie has reddish brown hair, with dark blue eyes. Somehow attractive, and wore clothes that told people how she felt. She was wearing a light blue blouse with long blue jeans. She always straightened her hair before school.
Then the school bell rang.
Well, got to get inside before class. Jessie said to Adam.
They went inside and found their classrooms. Jessie had Musical Theatre. Did I mention that she loves to sing?
Settle down. Take your seats. Mrs. Hatch said as she entered the classroom.
Jessie took the middle seat in the front row.
This year, Mrs. Hatch said as she walked to the front of the classroom, we will produce a number of musicals from Mr. Andrew Lloyd Webbers The Phantom of the Opera, to a musical called Wicked.
Jessie almost screamed at the top of her lungs.
Now, no yelling in the classroom. Mrs. Hatch said strictly.
Yes Mrs. Hatch. Jessie said to the teacher.
Now, tomorrow we will be having signups for the Actor Club. Now, you may leave. Jessie barely noticed that 45 minutes had already passed.
Later when Jessie had her lunch, which was better than the elementary school food had been, she left for her house. They only had a half-day when that day.
So, how was school honey? Mom asked Jessie just as she walked in the door. She had a knack for doing those sorts of things.
Fine! Jessie yelled. She was already up the stairs and into her room. She got on the computer to do her homework. Well, not her homework straight away, she got on her favorite Phantom of the Opera site. Then she heard a voice, a voice that came from nowhere. She stood up, and started singing back. Then the mirror that was on the opposite side of her room opened, and a figure stood there, only about her age. She started walking to the mirror, where she stepped inside and touched hands.
Then she started singing, with the man. She sang about someone teaching her how to sing, and so on. The place they were walking through was lit with candelabras. Then they reached a body of water. There was a small wooden gondola on the surface of the water with enough room for two. Then Jessie started singing hitting really high notes. The man told her to sing, and Jessie kept on singing. Then they reached a place that marked the end of water. A gate type thing was blocking land and water. The gate had a red velvet curtain that covered it. The curtain flew open, and the gate opened to reveal a beautiful place, which was filled with candles. The lair was filled with many objects from instruments to clothes.
"Now, who are you?" Jessie asked the weird man, who now was more visible. He wore a mask over the right side of his face, and he wore a black cloak over old black clothes.
"My name is Erik. I am the phantom of Eriksson middle school. I was the child it was named after. Now, you will never, ever touch my mask, or I WILL force you to look at it." Erik said to Jessie, who, was staring at Erik like no other has (no one has stared at Erik).
"Now, you will stay with me until tomorrow morning. In the meantime, cook, listen to my music, sleep, do whatever you like. But do not leave, or an unfortunate event will happen to you your family. Erik said.
Jessie got up, and went over to the case that held his instruments. In the case, he held a violin, an oboe, an English horn, a French horn, and a saxophone. Erik walked over, and talked to Jessie.
Which of these do you want to hear? Erik asked Jessie.
How about the violin. Jessie said.
Sure. Erik said, just as he pulled out the violin. Erik took a seat, as Jessie did, and he started playing a song from The Phantom of the Opera, which he sang to.
Sing once again with me, our strange duet, my power over you, grows stronger yet. And do you turn from me? To glance behind, the Phantom of the Opera is there, inside your mind. Erik sang to Jessie, and she sat there in a chair, entranced by his voice and his music skills.
