Eldewiess... Eldewiess. Every morning you greet me- small and white, clean and bright. You look happy to meet me!

This is the movie version with Julie Andrews... my favorite songs are, "Eldewiess", "Do-Re-Mi", "Maria", and "Sixteen Goin' On Seventeen".

My favorite characters are The Captain, Maria, and Lesli.

Ah.. I love this one. This show was even better on stage, but I love the movie. Gorgeous Julie Andrews, she is fantastic. I love her voice. Beautiful songs- I love them all. :)

I love this movie, though if you asked me to watch it, I'd probably say no. Wanna know why? My music teacher showed us that movie 5 times, yes, 5 TIMES last year and I think my brain would explode if I had to watch that movie again...but I like it anyway. ;)

I love the Sound of Music. I grew up with it because my parents and grandparents basically wanted to see it every year with Christmas ;) And it's still on television every year around that time...The songs are timeless though!

I LOVE THIS MOVIE!!!! My true obsession lies with Julie Andrews and I'll never forget the first time I saw this movie. And to cinch the deal, I met her shortly afterwards....

I love this movie! When we were doing a musicals unit in theater arts in high school, we watched this movie among other classics. I think I was the only one in class who was thrilled to have a musical unit!!

Anyway, my favorite characters are Captain Von Trapp, Maria, and Leisl. I just love Christopher Plummer's voice. There's something authoritative yet sexy about it. Julie Andrews sings beautifully, and Charmaine Carr is great in the role of Leisl.

My favorite songs are...."How Do You Solve a Problem Like Maria," "Sound of Music," "Edelweiss"..........oh, forget it! I love the whole darn thing!!

I'm going to get trounced for this, but the ONLY thing I truly like about this film is Christopher Plummer--who has made his displeasure of the film known by referring to it as "The Sound of Mucus".

I saw it when it came out originally and thought it was awfully "sweetsy", but Rodgers & Hammerstein tend toward that quality in most of their works--lots of sugar and scarcely a touch of spice. I've heard that the Mary Martin stage production was much worse--achingly saccharine--and that it was toned down for the film, meaning they were aware of that quality.

I can play many of the songs on my bowed psaltery. "Edelweiss" is especially pretty. But, this isn't among my favorite R&H musicals. I much prefer L&L's works!

I can see where it would be popular as a high school musical production though since everyone is familiar with the songs and story.

I love this film! everything is great, the cast, the songs, the location! julie Andrews was great as Maria. I'd love to visit where it was filmed.

Although i don't think i'd like to go and see a live production of it, it just seems like somthing wouldn't be quite right..

I loved the movie. The songs, the casting. The setting was just gorgeous! It was filmed in Austria, right? I would love to see a live production of it. It was my first non-animaited musical... It was actually a true story. I never knew that! Good thing I paid attention in History class....;)

I love The Sound of Music! The first time I saw it I was about 10, and I've loved it ever since. It used to be my favorite movie, but of course POTO has vastly surpassed it now. :D I love the lyrics from all the songs, and the acting was superb. Very enjoyable movie.

It's a very cute, feel good movie. Far better than any Disney crap if you ask me. You can have good, childish fun without the talking animals. It IS possiable!

Besides, Eldewiess has to be one of the most beautiful and well written songs that I've ever heard.

I lvoe Sound of Music!
I first watched it when I was in year 3...fell in love with the music...
and agreed.
Eldewiess has got to be the best song out of all of them.

I grew up watching this about once or twice a year, beginning when I was about two or three.

When I was very young, I was only allowed to stay up through the "Lonely Goatherd" song. As I got older, I was allowed to stay up a little later each year...finally getting to the end, eventually.

I had the soundtrack and wore it out, singing along badly.

So, I'll always have a soft spot for this movie.

And I love "Edelweiss."

I've loved this film since childhood, as well... Oddly enough, the first time I saw it, I watched the Japanese-dubbed version on videotape. So I grew up singing the songs in Japanese, and didn't get to see the English version until I was 14 or 15, and saw it broadcast on TV for a holiday showing. I don't remember whether it was for Christmas or Easter. :D It remains one of my favourite musical films to this day.

And yes, "Edelweiss" is a beautiful song... probably my favourite in the film, although I also like "The Lonely Goatherd" and "Climb Ev'ry Mountain."

Even though for years I couldn't stay up late enough to even get to "Edelweiss," it turns out I knew the tune from my toddler days. I had a little music box that played different plastic "records."

When I finally got that far into the movie, I realized I knew the melody...it was on one of those plastic "records."

Wow... I think I had one of those, as well! Those were the days... those carefree, innocent days. :D ...but was I ever truly innocent? XD

L'anyhoodles, I also really like some of the parodies "Forbidden Broadway" did of various songs in the show. Especially one segment where they merged it with Kander and Ebb's Cabaret. And there was also a brilliant parody of "Climb Ev'ry Mountain," called "Find Mary Martin."

"How young and innocent we were..." :p

When I attended the Leading Men II benefit for BC/EFA last year, Seth Rudetsky did a very funny and way too short deconstruction of "The Sound of Music."
