TITLE: Inside Her Kiss
AUTHOR'S NOTE: I wrote the song; it's sung to the tune of the line about "Those haunted eyes..." I know it's not an exact fit, but I'm not exactly musically inclined!
SUMMARY: It's been two months since the Opera House burned down. Where is Erik? (From his POV)
She kissed me and I knew I couldn't kill her lover, so I sent them away. And then I left, just missing the mob who were pursuing me. And now I'm here; without a mask, without fear, without her.
Why did she choose him? I gave her everything she never knew she wanted! Even now I refuse to glance at the papers because she is always on the cover. Last week I saw her picture and bought the paper. She looks so happy...
She's starring in a production of "Romeo and Juliet," her first role since "Don Juan Triumphant." Then I was looking through the rest of the paper when I saw the words that ripped my heart to pieces: "Famous Diva and Viscount to Wed." I cursed and ripped the paper to shreds as if that would bring her back...
Her kiss... Oh it was glorious! In her kiss I finally felt love! I could have lost myself forever in her kiss, had she let me. Despairingly, I hum that oh-so-familiar tune and softly begin to sing:
And in her kiss
Everything I long to feel
Her sweet, sweet kiss
That both burns and lets my spirit soar
Thinking about Christine's kiss, I finally break down and let the tears flow for the first time since she left...
In her kiss, I finally found what I'd been looking for, and in her kiss I'd finally found the courage to truly feel again.
~~The End~~
